Gratitude List – May 2017

I love when it rains. The clouds, the water, the plants, dip in temperature and all that comes with a downpour. May was all about the weather here in Bangalore. Rain Gods have been blessing us with showers and that’s a relief from the sweltering heat we experienced this summer.

If I were to pick a word that describes May, it would be ‘peaceful’. So with that theme in my mind, here is my Gratitude List in no particular order.

Reading new books: During April, I was hard pressed for time and did not read at all. May proved to be generous. I was able to read a few good books and I am going to carry the momentum into June.

Workouts: I am very excited to share my health routine this month. 24 days of workout makes me feel really good. Let me add that it was my personal best. I went to yoga classes and when I couldn’t, I jogged. There is this wonderful thing about workouts – you miss them when you start enjoying them. May was the month when I really enjoyed working out each day. I am grateful to friends like WG, AZ and SN who nudge me in their own ways and help me keep health on the top of my priority list. SN went an extra mile this month to get me home after work, grab my yoga gear and get to a Wednesday class on time. Did I mention, I also cycled with my team on a Sunday morning? Well, we are a fun team.

Love: VT and I completed 11 years of love this month and strange as it may seem – we did not celebrate. He studied for his upcoming exams, totally missing out on the day and I enjoyed a movie. I don’t know if he even remembers. Over years, I know that dates don’t matter but feelings do. I am grateful for a relationship that gives me the space I need and a person who loves me the way I am.

Work: As I am getting deeper into my role, I am loving the choice I made to move to a new team. Career as against to what most people believe is not a ladder that one needs to climb. It’s gathering experiences, learning and gaining subject matter expertise. I am grateful to have AK around who ensures that I think differently and helps me explore dimensions that I may not have thought about earlier.

Junie: Junie is growing up fast but she hasn’t stopped jumping and climbing when she sees people she knows. It’s fun to watch her so excited that she even stretches before she starts jumping. Pets are a joy and though she isn’t mine, she is ours. When I get home from work, she starts jumping around. Sure, a happy feeling.

There were a few good movies, healthy plants in my balcony, my healthy cake, millets and broken wheat for a few meals at night and a whole lot of me-time. So, all in all a good month of life. June is going to be exciting. With Mum and Papa visiting, I am looking forward to conversations and having a good time on my day-offs with them.  More to come!

How was May for you? What is that one thing that you are grateful for?

  3. Such a wonderful May, Parul. I always love to know about your work. It nudges me in some way to keep at it. I hope you have a wonderful June with your parents.
As for me, May was hectic but not complaints. On the work front, I’ve taken on a new portfolio and it’s challenging but I think I enjoy it too. Reading has not been at the pace I would have liked but that’s okay. Looking for a better June in terms of reading. S and I took a day off and went for a movie after 6 months and that was one of the best, laid back days of May which I loved.
Oh and happy anniversary 🙂 With time the comfort in a relationship is the best aspect about it.

  4. It’s lovely to know you had a wonderful May, Parul. Well done for keeping to your routines and achieving your goals! It can be a tremendous boost to the morale when one does that. I’d like that for myself too. Hasn’t happened for me during this month as it has been a mixed one. Wishing June turns out as super or even better for you. As for me, I’d love to get back to getting back into my writing groove and settling into my work routine, finally.

  11. It sounded like a wonderful May for you, Parul. Good on you for getting fit and also embracing change at work. New perspectives and new plans often bring out the productive side in us. Your healthy cake looks amazing. I want a slice 😀 May was amazing for me – it was my birthday, work was great, went to a concert, and looking at other work-related development opportunities too. Hopefully it works out but if not, I am glad I tried. Wishing you a wonderful June 🙂

  12. This was such a happy post, Parul. I love reading these kinds of posts as it spreads a good feeling on to the readers as well. Great going with yoga and cycling. You are right, health and fitness is an addiction once you start enjoying your workout. I do yoga and some dance workouts these days. As Kanna is having his summer holidays we both dance together and the baby enjoys watching us busting the moves. When I’m too tired dancing is the first thing I do to garner some energy. Like a painkiller giving relief for a few hours, working out gives me energy enough to go on for a few hours.

  13. Wow I loved your post dear; especially the cycling team reminded me of how I enjoyed borrowing cycle and secretly riding in the neighbourhood as I was not allowed in my growing up years. The cake looks very tempting and nice to know that May was peaceful and you have spent time, reading, yoga and workout. I took a short break for a while away from home and am glad to get back to my routine… soon I will get back to walking and yoga, wishing you a blessed June and happy time with your parents.
