I turn a year older

This is exactly how I had marked November 24th on my Bullet Journal for this year’s birthday. Not that I would have forgotten the day but no harm in keeping it on the calendar. Right?

There is something special about birthdays and like I shared last year,  I have my own set of things I do for the day that’s mine. I love wishes and from those who genuinely want the best for me makes my day. It is believed that birthdays are the start of a new year so, it also becomes a subtle reminder to look forward to a new chapter in the book of life.

This year was special in a lot of ways and I feel I am changing as an individual. A part of growing up is knowing what you want from life and how you want to do things that are important to you. As I look back today, I am proud of

  • Pushing myself to do things that I wanted to do
  • Finding time for myself
  • Trying to overcome fear – a long way to go
  • Being able to bring smiles
  • Being resilient when there where changes
  • Staying positive in tough situations
  • Practicing gratefulness
  • Taking care of health and eating healthy
  • Finding ways to may be encourage others

This birthday is just a reminder that there is a lot to be done and also done well. It’s not just the results that matter but how we achieved those results. I do not believe in new year resolutions but I believe in being the best person you can be very single day not for anybody else but for your own self. To be able to raise the bar for your own good and competing with yourself.

As an individual, friend, daughter, sister, wife or employee, I want to be better this year.  I want to spread more smiles and warm more hearts. I want to keep writing and I want to be read.

I want to make a difference and I want to be remembered long after I am gone. I am a year older today..

Today is my birthday and also day 24 of NaBloPoMo and NoMo.

  3. Happy birthday Parul 🙂 Can I tell you that you are a wonderful person and it was great for me to meet you in person this year and to know you over this time period? Your thoughts in this post give a new perspective to taking stock of positive things which happened in the last year. May we all grow wiser with every passing year because getting older is just one part of the whole plan.

  21. Belated Happy Birthday to you Parul. You have summed it well in this sentence “As an individual, friend, daughter, sister, wife or employee, I want to be better this year” and if everybody is determined with this thought, then the world would be a much better place to live and enjoy life.
