Light the lamp of education #FundAhamBhumika

Words travel farther than we can imagine. They go beyond the city we live in, the country we belong to or the continent we are most familiar with. Words take us to those corners of the world where sometimes, even the mind cannot reach. My few followers on this blog, readers who get mails when I publish a new post, Facebook friends, Twitter folks, Pinterest Pins or LinkedIn connections are in many corners of the world and that’s the power of the written word.

Where did the written word come from? What if I wasn’t educated? What if I did not know how to read or write? Luckily for me and for all of you who are reading this post, our parents ensured that we study. Our parents provided for us – food, education and all that they could.

Can every parent do that? Has every parent got enough to feed and educate their children? NO. We all know the reality and we know that daily wages are hardly enough to feed. There is a little corner in central India, Borda where a NGO called Aham Bhumika is lighting the lamp of education for around 40 children. The parents of these preschoolers work on brick kilns and construction sites as daily wage laborers and are illiterate. Aham Bhumika uses simple learn-while-you- play method to teach these little ones.

Funds for such efforts are limited. To continue educating these children, Aham Bhoomika is looking for financial help and what better than the written word? If the NGO gets INR 14,000 per month, they will be able to meet their expenses and continue helping children of Borda.

There are many ways to help if you want to,

A little contribution from you will light that lamp of education for these young ones. These children are our future and an investment in their education is certainly a ray of hope. Help spread the word by sharing, tweeting or pinning. Just do your bit.
Aham Bhumika is a Sanskrit word and it means “My Role”, so let’s do it for these children.
