This is my first time trying fiction and it was the Wednesday Prompt 2014 #9 that made me try something different – getting out of comfort zone, you see!! Before, it gets too late, here I go..
A scrap metal dealer who bought an ornament from a bric-a-brac market to be melted down for its gold discovered it is a £20 million Fabergé egg after finding a Telegraph article online.

This dealer’s name was Sultan and for the first time in his entire life, he felt he might live up to his name. He had come to a public internet booth just to check his employment benefit and suddenly this news piece on Telegraph delivered the best news of his life. Life seemed to have taken a 180 degree turn and Sultan knew that his days of penury will be over forever. Ah! What a moment and what a life it will be! He rushed back home to narrate the entire incident to his wife, Liz. It was 3PM and outside his house, he saw his wife feeding the birds. She was so occupied that she did not notice Sultan observing her from a little distance.
“Don’t you wish you had more leftover to feed these birds? I know you love birds and you would be happy to have much more to share.” Sultan said.
Liz replied, smiling: “Do you think feeding birds is about using the leftover? I feed birds because I like to share and to be able to share is never about how much I have. It’s our heart and not our pocket that aids us to share. And you know how big my heart is! ”
Sultan then narrated the incident with Liz and asked her for her views. Liz was very happy to know about the fortune that they have been bestowed upon. And then together Liz and Sultan made a decision – they decided to share the Fabergé egg with the museum of London. They decided to share this precious Easter gift with the rest of the world. The more you share, the more you get.
The Mayor of London was so happy with Sultan’s generosity that he offered a job to Sultan at the museum. Sultan and Liz got a better life and their story is still narrated to children in London schools as an example.
Sultan and Liz believed that they never owned this one Fabergé egg – so it’s either “All or Nothing”!
