And Jump..

Yesterday in my Yoga class, somewhere during mid of the session, our instructor asked us to jump and move 90 degrees with the legs apart. Yes, you got it, 3 things together- jump, change direction and spread the legs. For the first time, I just could not do it, then the second time I was clumsy and then for the third time I was a little better. When I got back home, I jumped in the kitchen and tried to repeat that action. I tried a couple of times and realized how easy that is but as adults we have forgotten to be a child.

Today when I was reading Vidya Sury’s post on the Day 3 of Write Tribe Festival of Words #4 and thinking of being aware of my surroundings and my own self, my mind was stuck at yesterday’s class. Think of us – our daily chores, our mind being blocked on certain things or how we want things to be. If you really want to listen, you will hear only one voice and that will be your own telling you to listen to your self and see what it is trying to tell you.

  • Shed those inhibitions
  • Break the molds
  • Do what your heart desires
  • Laze around or keep walking
  • Jump and feel it
  • Watch the moon walk along you
  • Cuddle a pup
  • Watch it rain
  • Look up
  • Smile more often
  • Be honest but never hurt other
  • Be who you are
  • Express your feelings
  • Take care of your body
  • Appreciate someone genuinely
  • Notice little things – how a leaf falls, sways and then lands only when that wind can’t lift it further
  • That little budding flower or that green little leaf trying to open up
  • Listen to the Cuckoo just before it begins to rain as if saying to get indoors
  • Capture personal moments in your heart

Creativity and inspiration is all within. The moment we become too busy to realize it, we stop being creative. The moment we stop being creative, we can’t inspire our own self and at that very moment we fail to live life as we should. We have just one chance to live this life and we can do it only when we are not too conscious to jump, turn and spread the legs apart!

What do you think? Can you try to be a child again?

  1. We used to do an exercise like that in our water aerobics, years ago. It would be much easier in the water, as you get some support. It’s fun to act like a child again, as adulthood weighs heavily on so many of us. My adult son reminds me of needing to laugh and not take things so seriously.

  2. That’s an inspirational post Parul. In the race to conquer the world and run behind materialistic things in our life, we tend to appreciate the sweet and simple things around us.
