India celebrated its Independence Day yesterday on August 15th and I am wondering if India is truly independent.

What does freedom mean?
Are we independent in the true sense?
Do we have the freedom to choose what we want?
Do we have the freedom to speak what we want to?
And many such questions are on my mind..
This post is Sunday Punch #36.
Powerful questions, Parul!

Happy Independence Day. Interesting question raised: Freedom for human happiness, decluttering of the mind, thoughts and love. It matters a lot:)

PArul… I really dont think we have achieved 100% freedom in true sens. There are limitations and restrictions in practically every sphere of life. No we arent independent in the true sense… We have restrictions in the name of culture, in the name of society and every other thing…..

I am visiting your blog from the United States. Here, we in this country should be asking those same questions. Sometimes, it seems like we are giving up our freedoms in return for a false sense of security. You ask powerful questions.

Help me, I may rant off! But the short answer, at least in my opinion is, well, technically no, not completely. I mean you’re not really free if you can’t even share a simple opinion without being hated for it, or oppose someone without being judged for it, or walk freely on the streets without being afraid of the dark, or even marry whom we want… so many such things.

Really relevant questions. Sadly, the answers are not as simple as we think they should be
You know if I think of it, the Manoj Bajpai / Raveena short film is so relevant in one more aspect. At the risk of sounding cynical, I feel if such a thing were to happen today, there could still be a chance that even with all Indians around, they may not get much help but instead be troubled.
