The way I am..

Every one is unique in their own ways. Somethings set us apart and somethings get us on the same page. With friends or colleagues, this particular conversation gets me to think about myself. One subject where I am never inclined to invest my energy and time.

With Diwali approaching and knowing all that it means to those who celebrate – I am wondering how will the Goddess of Wealth bless me if I don’t do what every one does. While one can’t stand how spoons are placed in the holder, the other injures herself while lifting the bed and removing that tiny speck, another friend paints his own house every year and sets everything right – I never get excited about this one thing and I never understand how others can do it with so much zeal that I really can’t do.

I have bribed my friends to do it for me and sometimes VT tries his hands. When my Mum comes to Bangalore once a year, she takes up the task on herself. Not that I don’t like the end results but it’s hard for me to do it on my own. When ever I take this task up, I feel  – I should have done something better with my time, this effort will be of no use in some more days, why should I do this, who will see and appreciate my effort, and another 18967 reasons to not do it next time.

Diwali is in another five days and I am getting worked up. Now I can’t procrastinate and run away. My help can pitch in and I will get the best of her but still, being the minister of my place, it’s my responsibility to clean things up. I need to pack my travel bags and remove them from the living room, the kitchen shelves are screaming loud for many things and the storage boxes need to be cleaned, the cupboard needs to be arranged, the curtains need to be changed, the refrigerator and microwave top needs to be cleaned, I see the fans and I know they need work, the idols in the pooja stand, the shoe rack needs a  discard-keep activity and what not is also ready and waiting for me.

Now that I have shared the list with you, you do realize how much work that is. Don’t you? Also, it’s no easy feat. It’s blood, sweat and tears. Add to it the festive cooking. Another nemesis but let’s leave that for another day. For now, pray that this hard time passes by quickly and I don’t feel lost. I would love your support if not your help! 😀

  1. I keep my list small and doable!!
Like – house cleaning over the weekend (This means hubby will also pitch in! ) and only 1 or 2 Diwali delights and kheer or payasam on the festival days! 😀

Happy Diwali darling!! Wishing you the best this festive season and best wishes for a great year ahead! 🙂

  2. The minion quote is too cute!
The one thing that helps me complete tasks that I don’t normally like to do is: just doing it. Without thinking about it for even a minute. Just complete it, and shut down your brain and heart while you do it.
All the best for the Diwali prep! 🙂
