OOh I know this one. Have a picture taken next to it too 🙂 I love the new boulevard and walkway on M G Road. I do wish there wasn’t any traffic though. Sigh.
This got me thinking. I have lived in Delhi and worked in Gurgaon, thus commuting between the two cities for years. There is MG road which connects Delhi-Gurgaon apart from NH8 and I used to think that MG Road stood for Mahatma Gandhi Road. I was wrong. It took me over 8 years to realise that MG Road was actually Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road. Doesn’t it speak of something? The moment we hear MG Road, it has to be Mahatma Gandhi Road.
Of course! Sadly this once gorgeous tree lined road is filled with hawkers who have transformed this road into a stinky mess. If I were Gandhi I’d object to having a road in my name especially if it’s not the pride of place.
Hey Parul.. I landed on your blog from somebody else’s and I must say, your categories are very innovative and attractive ! Loved reading some of your posts and now I am a follower !
Ok this might sound harsh .. So I am sorry for that
But why do we need a MG road everywhere.. THankfully Chandigarh does not have that and there are Plenty towns and cities in Punjab that dont have it ..
I also think that our indian history is very biased towards one particular person 🙂
Of course it does! I think we should find out which city doesn’t?
Cheers

Yes we have an MG Road in both Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Parul. I think the main roads in every city are called MG Road.

Interesting! Along with MLK (like Harmony mentioned earlier), tons of US cities also have a Washington Street as well. 😀

Oh I totally agree. Many cities in UP don’t have one as well. I am good with names like 100 feet Road, Civil Lines, Bypass road 🙂
