I was out on a morning stroll in Hong Kong and the day had just begun for the island city. I had dropped VT to work and on my way back, I took a detour when I spotted this guy. His shop was all set to welcome customers and then he had found the time to read. In his little cozy place and under the lamp, to me it was a perfect setting.

Can you guess at what time was this picture clicked? I have given you hints but let’s play a little game of guessing. Ready?
Linking with Esha and Natasha for #WordlessWednesday today and #71 for me.

His booth lights are on, so maybe around 5-pm? Have you shifted to Hong Kong?

No no! This was in 2015 🙂
Wrong guess – this was morning!

Lovely capture. I would be curious to know what he was reading.
I would say it’s a little past 10 am since shops open at 10 in Hong Kong.

It’s a little before 10 but thanks for trying, Corinne. 🙂

Ok I’m diving into 8:30 A.M.
An utter delight to the eyes, these bright knick-knacks. Would see them in China Town, in Singapore.
Always love the ides of people reading, especially shopkeepers. In my head I assume they are just plain businessmen. Especially in our Indian scenario. Probably just a generalisation too…
But ways fascinated by an intense reader. Look up to them 🙂

What a lovely click, Parul. I looked at the answers and you said before 10am 🙂 That is one hardworking shop attendant. Business may be quiet but he is probably reading either to learn about the world (reading non-fiction) or to stretch his imagination (reading fiction). Cozy reading spot indeed. Hope you are having a good time in Hong Kong 🙂

Lovely shot and loved the back story as well, Parul. I have already read the comments so cannot comment but If you’d asked me to guess the time, I’d probably say 8 am, and probably the lights are on because being occupied by a book, the shopkeeper might have forgotten to switch off the lights. Could be, no? 🙂
