Gratitude List – June 2019

June progressed at a relaxed pace and it was something that I was hoping for. With May being so busy and packed with things, all I was looking for was some quiet time. The sixth month of the year did not disappoint.

I had time with friends, good food and great conversations. Not to forget, Bangalore sky and clouds were beautiful too. There were a lot of things that made me happy and for all those things, I am grateful.

As we wrap first half of the year, I am grateful for this life. To me it already feels that 2019 will soon end and we will all be thinking of where did it go.

Here’s is my list of things that made me smile:

♥ This blog got listed in the 9th edition of Top Indian Blogs. This was the third year in a row and I am grateful to my readers for all the love.

♥ I attended a 90 min yoga workshop at Cult that was meant to open heart and hip joints. It was a great stretch to the body and something that I needed after 15 weekdays of swimming.

♥ I was able to workout 21 days in June and this includes swimming on weekends. I realized that I am switching between seven different forms of workout and variety is fun.

♥ VT and I are going to swimming classes over weekends and it is going well. Though I must admit, the water is now cold.

♥ I continued to make breakfast and it has been good. Since I find the easy way out in the kitchen, eggs come to my rescue two to three times a week.

♥ Hunger pangs hit me when I reach home from work. So I am taking advantage and wrapping my dinner by 7PM. This is helping me stay light until I hit bed and looks like it is working on body metabolism.

♥ Season’s last mangoes were delicious. Until next year I had my share of shakes and the whole fruit.

♥ I find ways to have good food and tie it to something special. So for Eid this month, I made some chicken and sevai. In my mind, I was home celebrating with friends.

♥ SM is a sweetheart. She is new to the team and over a casual conversation mentioned of a tailoring shop near her place. I wasted no time and gave her two dresses for stitching. She helped me with a lot of back and forth with the tailor. As much as I am feeling bad about the pain she had to take, I am so grateful that she made things work. Thank you, SM!

♥ I met AB this month. A guy so young and so inspiring that I have to share his story with you all. AB, if you reading this, know that both VT and I want the best for you.

♥ Our apartment guard got us jamuns (Indian Blackberry) from a nearby tree like last year. So grateful to have nature’s bounty hand delivered to us. And in another story, I also got a small jackfruit plucked infront of us from a nearby tree that a neighborhood guy gave to me. Happiness doubled this side.

♥ The world cup is on and though I am not a cricket fan, India’s matches have kept me engrossed. Cricket was a muse and brought back memories from childhood.

♥ The farmer’s market by Healthy Buddha was a bonus on a Sunday. I loved the idea of having to buy fresh vegetables from farmers and as always VT played along.

VT and I had some TV time with Chernobyl and Hidden Figures. Like Pursuit of Happyness, Hidden Figures is a movie that I can watch many time. Rain is continuing to play hide and seek in Bangalore. Though the temperatures have dipped and it is cloudy, it is not raining. A matter of concern for all of us.

How was your June? Would you like to share a highlight with me?

  1. It is so lovely to come back on here and see you have another gratitude post, Parul. Congrats for making it in the Top Indian Blogs again. Such a great effort for another year, and you still have such an engaged audience. Hopefully the water warms up for your swimming lessons. I’m not a huge fan of swimming and will stay as far away as possible from the water, lol. Like you, I like mangoes. Perfect fruit for when the weather is hot. It is now winter here in Australia and mangoes are not in season. But soon enough it will be summer again 🙂 Hope you are well, Parul.

  6. Such a happy and fruitful month! 🙂

You sound so sorted and content here, you know and that is so inspirational for many of us. I try to fit in so many things in a month that something gets left behind and makes me uneasy. I need to learn so much for you ❤

Lots of love and wishes for July!

  9. I like how you are doing different kinds of exercise. It makes life interesting and inspires me. And speaking of inspiring, I agree about watching feel good movies Hidden Figures and The Pursuit of Happiness many times. My June had more changes than any month I can remember. I sold my parents’ house, bought a mountain house (dream come true), my husband retired, and my son got married (another dream come true!) Thank you for reminding me how much there is to be thankful for.

  10. I love reading your gratitude posts and all the small little moments that are so easy to forget in the drama of everyday life. I keep a private gratitude journal, but I’m thinking of maybe sharing some of my moments of joy every month too.
