Gratitude List – July 2019

July kept me busy. Mentally. The month was different in a lot of ways. It had its elements of good times and fun but it also shook me to face that we are all mortals. I took many days this month to remind myself that one day, we will all be dead. And I am still telling myself that it’s okay. That’s the deal with living. I was anxious and even now I feel a knot in my stomach. I am getting older, time is running and what not.

Writing this gratitude list and counting my blessings helps me a lot. So without going so serious, let me share some happy moments from July.

β™₯ People around me. I think I have some amazing people around me – at work and at home. So grateful for the love and affection around. I don’t know what would we do without the human connections we all have.

β™₯ I worked out 20 days this month. There was variety and I loved those final classes of swimming. While I am still not able to swim freestyle, I loved backstrokes and got more comfortable with water. My weight is down by a kilogram which is a big deal this side.

β™₯ Do you know what’s a mangosteen? I saw this fruit on Healthy Buddha and dropped a message to the team to send me a few to taste. So glad they did and since then, I have been buying it in almost every order.

β™₯ Thanks to Shalini, I tried dahi toast for breakfast that I thought was delicious. While I don’t cook, I like to try new breakfast ideas and this one worked. I also love Rachna’s recipes and she always goes that extra mile to answer my silly questions.

β™₯ I wrote two non-fiction pieces this month – one on Cricket and one on English Language and I got some really good constructive feedback. Thank you, Asha! I cannot explain in the right words how much your words help.

β™₯ While work kept me busy, I tried to balance life a bit. I logged off on some days and took it easy. We all need to slow down our pace when we need it. I am grateful that my company supports so much and gives me the flexibility I need.

β™₯ If you live in Bangalore and love a traditional meal, you must to visit Bengaluru Oota Company. We ate as team at this place and I loved the food. It’s traditional and cooked with love. RL and I won a competition at work and our prize was free food here. I am sure you can imagine how happy I was that day.

β™₯ Shalini, Corinne and I launched #WordsMatter this month. I am grateful that we were able to get together, brainstorm and shape our ideas into action. If you are blogger and haven’t heard heard of this monthly blog hop. do check it out and join us on September 6-8.

β™₯ Friends. My friends are my pillars. Somehow they magically know when I need them. VT is lazy but springs up to action when needed, GK’s home is my other comfortable home in Bangalore and SK keeps feeding me home cooked meals. I am grateful I have a loving bunch of folks.

Like I said earlier, this month was good in a different way. It made me realize the importance of connections. I traveled to Delhi on a quick trip and had a lovely time there with my brother C, cousins and met a few school friends. More about that in August.

Though this post is late, I hold gratitude close to my heart. I believe that the universe will listen only when you speak to it.

How have you been? Are you taking care of yourself? Please do and keep smiling.

  1. Hey Parul, I believe in the same theory of life. If we don’t have loving people around, life would be impossible to live. I am also good at work and home, being thankful for every little happiness I have.

  4. Finally got to reading the post, Parul. Thanks for the shout out. You are always welcome. 😊 July was a mixed month for me. I got stuck with some bad bronchitis that took almost 2 weeks to get better. And the weather is not helping even now. Despite that I managed to workout reasonably well. Took offs from social media to rest and read. Like you said these breaks are important. I haven’t tried out mangosteen yet. And I loved participating in the blog hop. So many wonderful posts to read. Though I have to read more there. Nice to know about your swimming classes. I don’t know backstroke and breast stroke. Would love to join classes for that some day. Wish you a wonderful August, Parul. We should plan a meetup, no?
