Dear Pink Diary,
You know when I turn to you and this was one moment I really wanted to share with you. That was a usual day and when I got to know about this contest, as usual I deliberated and procrastinated. I thought I can never be so lucky so I was not willing to put in the little effort of filling up a form. What I forgot was that not all days are the same and this was my day. I got selected and in the blink of an eye, I was sitting in the Himalayas with Him. He knew that I want to see that part of the country and hence He flew me there – no tickets, no leaves, no being off work yet a time exclusively with Him.
We sat around this cozy little corner looking over the mountains and it was a scenic sight. I felt as if I was as light as a feather and nothing else was riding on my mind. He made me comfortable by offering me a piping hot ginger tea and some cookies. We exchanged pleasantries and He broke the silence. He said is there anything I would like to ask Him and I went blank. Then I asked him what the future beholds and He said future is what I would make of it and then He went quiet as if I had upset Him. His eyes were cold and I knew something must have gone wrong so I asked him again and again. I could see that His eyes were cold and I felt such a discomfort. I was growing anxious and may be this was evident.
When tears welled up in my eyes, He said, “I told you to live in today, I told you to cherish every day and be your best; yet you ask me what the future behold? The future will be what you do today. If you do your duty and make the most of everyday, future will be beautiful. But if you worry about tomorrow and forget enjoying what you have today, tomorrow will be dark as today. When that little hibiscus in your balcony garden blooms, I tell you to have a look at it and admire its beauty. When it pours heavily, I ask you to enjoy the rain and feel the pleasant green neighborhood. When you go to work, I ask you to give your best so that you take pride in what lies tomorrow. Tomorrow is what we make of today. ” The tears that had welled up in my eyes started rolling down my cheeks when the warmth in His eyes returned. He said, “Let’s get you some red velvet cake and take a walk down the valley to feel better.” Ah! As if He had read my mind and why won’t He? He knows me the best.
While walking down the valley, I was feeling bad about why this special date had to start in such an awkward way. Again, he read my mind and urged me to talk about something else. This time, I knew exactly what I had to talk. I said, “I know we are sent to this world with a purpose to fulfill and you have it all decided. I want to know if I am meeting your expectations. Am I doing what you wanted me to do? Am I being the same Parul you wanted me to be?”
He said, “You will get to know the answer yourself when your time comes. But I do want to tell you to never stop learning and stay happy in all circumstances. Every day will be different and never compare good times of yours with others. Everyone has problems though at times, you all feel that you are the worst of the lot. If everyone stacks their problems at one place and you get a chance to pick one, you will pick up your own cos you know the solution to it the best. So, know that I gave you what you can handle.” With these words He narrated the beautiful lines from “Footprints on the sand” by Mary Stevenson,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you”
With these parting words, I knew it was time to say Good night! I gave my number to Him and asked Him to call me! He said we would. And then in a flash of a second, I was back home.
What a lovely day I had with Him and I wish I could have got another day with God. He is the best!
See you soon, now that every day is turning pink,
P

I document my happy times on a notebook with pink pages and hence this letter is addressed to my pink diary.
