I love it when Salary Day is a Friday. For me, that looks like perfect end of the month and July is such a wonderful example. July in India is monsoon month and it’s raining all over. Somewhere drizzling and some where cats and dogs. And as long as I am indoors, I love when it rains. The green trees, those flowers, the washed look of the roads – it’s just wonderful and God’s way of showing presence every where. While I am writing this post, I know my plants are getting watered naturally and that’s the best way!
I am grateful for a lovely July and here’s why:
- Health. I feel grateful that I can walk, see, talk, sit, stand and flex my body to do some Yoga. Sometimes, we take these normal body functions for granted and don’t see that we are fortunate. Health is more than wealth. It’s everything!
- Have you tried working out in the outdoors? Well, I was so excited that I did a microblog on my Yoga in Cubbon Park. Lovely company and a lot of fresh air. Try it whenever you get time. Mommy Nature in her full glory!
- Internet. You may choose to make fun of me on this one but let me tell you, I am heavily dependent on a stable internet connection. I need to log in from home to take calls in the evening, I shop my groceries online, pay my bills, I blog and what not. My internet connection (Airtel) helps me survive. A blessing indeed!
- I had a chance to attend #WordUp, an event organized by Indiblogger and it was a lot of learning. There were many take aways. I also realized that sometimes I would want to do things on my blog my way. All in all, I am feeling more strongly about this blog and its presence online. Building connections is always good!
- Having a partner who encourages you to push your comfort zone is a blessing. This month VT is backing me for something that I have tried to avoid for many years. (More to come on what it is) It’s just for his confidence in me that I am all set to attempt one item from my childhood bucket list. And not give up before I try! Love is life!
- Sarees. My #100SareePact challenge is now 50% accomplished and I am loving this journey. When people ask me what am I getting out of this, I tell them it’s the joy of completing something that I undertook. That picture what you see is my Day 50 picture. I also attended my first Saree Date this month and it was fun getting to meet fellow pacters. Not just that, MS is really sweet. 3 days a week, without fail I turn up to her to take a picture and she is always in. Not just that she suggests places to click! Sweet, isn’t it?
- What a lovely feeling it is when you get a letter written to you by a fellow blogger? I am a member of a blogging support group – BAR and we had an activity there. Aditi Kaushiva sent me a beautiful handwritten letter from London and a postcard and it was such a joy.Ages since I received one and I don’t remember how many times I read it! Thank you Aditi! Glad we met!
- Flowers. My Hibiscus plant started blooming again. Last year, something went wrong and the plant dried up but this year I saw little green leaves, then buds and then many full blooms. These flowers have given my balcony that a beautiful peach color. Mommy Nature, I love you!
- Food. Again a very important thing and we all know there are no free lunches. A lot of hard work goes into earning that daily bread. I had a chance to eat at California Burrito (rice bowl there is my all time favorite), binge on jalebi, banana cake, ras malai, ice-cream without any guilt, dosa and home cooked Andhra style tomato chutney, biryani and lots of pani puri! Thank you to all those who cooked and fed me!
That pretty much sums up my July.
Until then,be grateful!

The biggest blessing is internet, without any doubt. If not for internet both of us would not have connected and met in person. It has been 8 months for me in Bangalore and one of the top most ‘to dos’ in my list is a visit to Cubbon Park and I am looking for company since my husband is not a nature loving person.

In our life we miss out small things like our first salary , our first date. Parul , you will be surprised to note that one of the person from Siliguri wants to buy my Book : Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara from her first salary . She is joining the same Bank from which I Retired 3 years back . Is this also a gratitude ?

First things first. Parul you look great in that saree. I am not exactly in Mumbai, but on the outskirts, but yes, it is raining here as well and I love when it does. The mountains turn green, the fields fill up with water and then egrets and storks come up from nowhere to relish tiny fishes that fill up these small ponds around. The air is misty around which makes you feel lazy a bit. How about some garam chai and pakodey in all this? Sone pe suhaga 🙂

Love your gratitude list posts each month Parul. Your #100sareepact challenge sounds so interesting. I am sure you doing a great job with it having seen your posts on FB and your blog :).
Just checked out your Yoga post. Guess I need to start Yoga or if not that at least regular brisk walking. All day sitting in office and at home leads to a dull life I guess ;). And must say events like WordUp are always cool for networking with like minded and lovely individuals :D.
