8 Happy Photos

We all need additional doses of happiness every now and then and Debbie’s post on #8PhotosofHappiness for #MondayMusings was one such open invitation.

As many of you already know, I love pictures. For me they are not just a moment captured. They mean much more – a thousand words, the memories of that day or the occasion, the people who were a part of it, the weather, the feelings, that year and all that comes along.

So, without any further ado, here are my 8 happy pictures. Yes, it was super hard to pick but these are the ones which mean a lot to me.

The black and white picture is my absolute favorite. The one that wins hands down always, when ever I am asked. (And I look so cute!) While I was growing up, this picture was on my study table and I love it cos to me it seems like my first picture with Mum and Papa. The other one with the four of us is my favorite ‘our happy family’ picture. While my brother seems to be the naughty one, he is one sweet soul and I am the trouble maker of the family.

Family
1. For the love of Family

I remember the date when this picture was taken. It was the orientation program on day one of my first job. This picture reminds me that times change and what was the very first day in Bangalore is now 10 years in this city. It symbolizes hope and aspirations.

2. Start of my career

I was in Mumbai and VT had come to see me. We went to Aksa beach and had a lovely time. Waves, winds and water – this picture though seems odd was taken for fun. It remained VT’s gtalk (then gtalk, now hang out)picture for a very long time. It was the time when none of his friends knew about us and as he is a shy one, using this one as profile picture conveyed his feelings towards me. Yeah – leave it! We are weird.

3. Love

Hyderabad. Our first day out in a city that was not Bangalore. VT decided to drop me till Hyderabad while I was travelling to Nagpur from Bangalore. Yes, he can do that. We had the entire day for us and my bus to Nagpur was late in the evening. So we decided to see Hyderabad. This picture is taken on Golconda Fort and what you see behind us is the entire city.

4. Travel - it makes you richer

Marrying some one you love is a great feeling and I have already shared how much I cherish my wedding pictures. But this one was just after the wedding. His place is decorated with flowers and we were stepping out to explore his city. I was in a filmy mood and hence the look!

5. The Filmy look

I love cycling and the company where I worked for just four months had lots of cycles for employees to use from one part of the campus to another. This picture was taken by a peer and I love it for the fact that it got me back to cycling again after over a decade. I now cycle to Yoga few days a week.

First car is a big thing. For us, it was a need cos of my back and this was the day, we got our car home. The happiness and excitement were worth the wait. It was a working day and we found time to get the car and also go back to work. Committed employees – both of us! 😉

Oxfam was a goal for VT. Walking 100 kms is no easy feat and VT’s challenge started minutes after this picture. This picture tells me that if you can dream it, you can achieve it. It’s hard but it’s possible. It’s all in the mind and that’s why this picture makes it to the list.

  1. I share the same feelings for pictures – they capture a memory for lifetime. Yes, you do look cute in your childhood pictures. Even I love b&w pictures more. That sea-foot selfie is a winner for me – shows the fun you guys had that day. And your filmy photo has given me an idea for a fun click.

A happy post, stay like that forever! 🙂

That feet picture is funny. It was deep dug in before this challenge. Glad I got a chance to put it up after I guess 7 years.
Thank you so much for your lovely wishes. Appreciate it! ❤

  2. What a lovely lovely lovely post, Parul! Visiting your blog and reading what you write is like a solid warm hug. I thoroughly enjoyed this post, and yes, I will take up the “challenge” – although, how is it a challenge when it is so much fun and such a pleasure to do? Love you!

    1. Totally agree! It’s a sugar coated challenge! 🙂 I loved how much time I spent digging into an old hard drive checking out pictures and cursing why I don’t have pictures from my Engineering college 🙂 Two people I thought who would love to take this up would be Rajlakshmi and you 🙂 I am glad you will do it! Would love to see your 8 happy pictures!! Hugs!
