If we discovered that we had only five minutes left to say all that we wanted to say, every telephone booth would be occupied by people calling other people to stammer that they loved them.
Christopher Morley.
When I first read this quote eons ago, I was not sure why would that be true.
Expressing love doesn’t come naturally to many people I know including the very close ones and though I express my feelings quite often, some times I am worried that my words should remain special. However, with blogging I take a different route and expressions take over – whether it’s about parents, brother, VT, friends or people I love and care for, I go all out to openly share how I feel.
And that makes me wonder is it just me who can’t put all this into words while talking or is this true about others too?
I wonder why some people can never express what they feel and will it ever hurt them in future that they could not share their love and talk about their feelings with their close ones? Why are we shy to say what we feel and let the other person feel warm on the inside and how important is it even to share such feelings?
So today, introspect and get to know yourself a little more, think about your feelings towards someone you love, share with her/him why you feel what you feel and spread a smile.
Your little gesture will go a long way and most importantly, you never know if you will get another chance.
I am tagging this post for both #MicroblogMondays and #MondayMusings.

I find it easier too to express my deepest emotions in writing – I guess that’s why we write! 😉

A lot of feelings are left unexpressed because of fear… and it is usually the negative ones that start weighing on the positive ones too 🙂

Totally agree! People lose many opportunities to win some one over with that kind of fear. Thank you for stopping by!

i am expressive and hope the same from others . But i also know that some people can’t express themselves. So no choice, just have patience and wait for that red letter day when they will speak their golden words .

I know you are! 🙂 Some people are wired that way to not share what they think. It’s just how they are. Isn’t it?

I can only express through writing. If I have to tell somebody it will be through a mail.

I think I can talk as well, writing is better words for sure 🙂

I think too that there are cultural and family dynamics that affect what we say and how often – thinking not only our discomfort, but the discomfort of the recipient. My family aren’t big on expressions of love, and we’re also not big on hugs, though do so more often these days. I do try to make sure they know how I feel (the positives, not the negatives), and the same with friends. Though I’m far from effusive!
Writing is so much easier!

Like Corinne mentioned in a comment below, probably that’s why we write 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Very true..life is short and I myself do beleive that one should express it …what they feel. BUT it is a bit complicated then that :)..
I don’t know how to say it..and that is a big problem I also beleive that if you love someone than your actions speak and the other cam knkw..
I know I know two opposite thoughts.. but that’s me a very confused complicated person he he he he..
WritING is so very easy and once you press that publish button it is out there in open and hopefully those beloved once will read it tooo..

We were never touchy-feely till mum went off to another country and I went off to college. We suddenly realized that we can’t live without each other. From then on, we’ve made sure that the other knows how much they mean to me and it is a wonderful feeling to know that even when everything else falls apart, mum will always be there standing, by my side, holding my hand.

I’m hopeless when it comes to verbal expression of emotions. Off late, I have become equally bad at expressing my feelings on my blog too! 😦

Expressing love through words, vocal ones, is difficult for me. When we were dating, he left for the US for two onths and we were emailing back and forth so much; during that time we talked a lot about love and revealed in detail about our feelings for each other. Writing is definitely a saviour. 🙂 Later I learned that saying I love you at the most unexpected moments can save a marriage in a great deal. 🙂

So true. Today, my husband is going to hospital for a little operation. I must make my parting words special because you never know what will happen.

It is so sad that a public expression of hate is acceptable but not love!

Oh, yes! Over the past few months I have really wanted to make a better effort of letting people know how much they mean to me. I have sent letters, cards, emails (when I didn’t have an address). It is amazing how easy it is to touch someone so deeply with a message of love, not sent because you have limited time left on this earth (I hope!) but because you took the time NOW, in the hectic mess of your everyday life, to tell someone in some way that you care, no strings attached. Great post. (Also, chuckled because of telephone booths, which are like archaeological finds in most places around here…)

Thanks Jess! You are so right. If we can find time in between our schedules and everything, it means so much. Ha ha – yeah, no booths here as well. It will be an archaeological finding for sure!

as I look back, I realize that I am not too good in expressing my views via writing; though I mentioned in Geetika’s blog post that I am good in expressing both ways ie; verbal and writing. Verbally i am more evocative, i guess. Need to analyze now.

Oh yes, I have experienced this for the longest period of time. I used to have a hard time expressing love or affection, but I had no such qualms about expressing dislike or dissent. 😛 Thankfully this has changed over the years. 🙂

Thanks for sharing Shantala. many people find it easier to say what they don’t like vs. what they like. It’s not easy to appreciate with full honesty.

Though I do express a lot in face to face interactions as well, I personally feel that blogging gives a much better / bigger scope to express ones thoughts, emotions, and feelings.
