September is over! Well almost – tomorrow we will step into October. This month was tough, not as easy breezy but we sailed through. Sudden travel, family needs, many holes in the pocket, being under the weather and the soaring humidity and temperature up North did shake us. But that’s how life is – a sine wave with its crests and troughs.
Being grateful as I have mentioned before is the way to keep going on with a smile on the face and hope in the heart. So, here I go with the many things that I feel blessed about during the month of September.
Long walks: The rainy month brought chilly nights and beautiful mornings in Bangalore. So much so that VT and I got a lot of chance to walk. Long walks, coconut water, coffee and sometimes grabbing a sandwich on the go was fun. I love walks together for the joy of being able to see the city together in a different light. The stretch may be the same but there is always some newness.
Food: When I talk about food, I mostly mention eating out and exploring restaurants. But this month I am grateful to LP for inviting VT and me for Onam Sadhya. The food was traditional, delicious and something I am not going to stop talking about. Not just that, I loved the food that VT’s Mum prepares at home is so simple and delicious. I feel grateful that when I visit his place, all I do is serve or make tea for the family. Cooking is MIL’s forte!
Clicking Photos: I was bitten by the photography bug this month and I clicked a few pictures that I am super proud of. I do not know the finer details yet – shutter speed, aperture, focal length and how to modulate all that but my simple phone camera is helping me take some shots that will remain my favorite in many years to come.
Helps at home: I have two helps at home and they handle a lot of things – cooking, cleaning, keeping me posted on the groceries’ stock, and sometimes running errands for me. This month I realized that these women are genuinely wonderful. I forgot to pay them their monthly salary. This has never happened in the past and these ladies kept on diligently carrying on with the daily chores. Around 6th when VT was checking debts and bills paid for the month, he asked me if I had paid them and then I remembered. I apologized and asked them to always ask for what’s their right and not keep shut but at the same time I feel blessed that they are such a great support and so humble.
Yoga: Yoga at Cubbon Park is now on my agenda every month and this month it was Natya Yoga – an energetic form that had the elements of dance. The fresh air and the good work out made my first Sunday of the month. Not just that, this month I also had a chance to become a Yoga instructor for the support staff at work. I was reluctant in the beginning cos I am not a pro and just a learner but then the organizing team’s belief in me made me say yes to the event. I am grateful to practitioners for a good practice session and SM for thinking of me.
My Fitbit: After almost two years of dreaming about owning a fitbit, I got my Fitbit Charge HR and I am super excited over it. I am a little bummed cos of my phone and that I am not able to use all the features but I am still very much happy with the way I am choosing to walk over a chance to take a bus or ask for a drop. I can now say that I have data to reveal how much I need to walk to meet my daily goal of the day. Replacing the watch is also a good change. Thank you SN for getting me my Fitbit!
Friends: Good friends are a blessing. SK and D, GK and VT. Somebody is helping me drive, somebody gets me lunches over weekends and someone is there to stay when VT isn’t around. VT’s peer from work invites us to his place every year for Ganesh Chaturthi and this was the third year in a row. I feel so blessed that there are people who want to share their festivals with us. Life would be hard without such fabulous set of people around.
We also had a little family time that always tops the charts. I had a chance to meet my Chachi in Delhi and the poori -aaloo ki sabzi she made was yum. Thank you S Chachi for such warmth when ever I come to see you.
So, here’s a wrap until next time and I would love to know what were the things you felt grateful for during September? Share and spread some cheer!

We share quite a few things to be grateful for…sorry to say yoga isn’t one of them. LOL Nobody wants to see this girl trying to do Yoga! Don’t think I could ever be thankful for that one. 🙂

What a lovely list of ‘gratitudes’, Parul. We are blessed aren’t we? I’m not surprised about your domestic help – it happened to me a few months ago – and I felt so lousy about delaying payment, but there was no reminder from my maid. I always marvel at how large-hearted the poor are.

I’ve been wanting to do a gratitude list for ages, but them I do a replay post every month. I’ll try to do a gratitude post once month on a random day then.
September was awesome for me with lots of wonderful things happening. Top 5 creative blogs in the country to start off with! Then was L’s birthday. Then I got to meet you as well. That makes September really awesome 🙂

Ah I could do with some help at home. So sick of cooking and cleaning in addition to working and doing all the other things I do. I reckon both Mr Imperfect and I would be eternally grateful if we didn’t have chores to do. 😛
Sounds like you’ve had a lovely month.
