I am thankful..

Today is thanksgiving and a perfect day to reflect and be grateful for all those people who make life wonderful every single day. So, thank you for stopping by to read this post.

Thank you friends! You are the family I chose and I can’t thank you enough for always being there with me in good times and bad.

P – Perfect. My parents are the best and perfect in all ways I can think of.

A – Adorable. Mum panics on what to wear for an upcoming party and that is as crazy as a teen would feel. And Papa? Well – you can’t just buy everything online. Relax and screen shop!

R – Remarkable. The best lessons of life begin at home. Values and ethics were a part of our daily conversations.

E – Extraordinary. How many fathers would sit with children, make them taste alcohol and tell them what drink is made of what stuff? And how many Mums would share their work pressures and still keep asking for styling tips?

N – Nurturing. Parents are nurturing but in C and my case, our opinions were valued even when we were very young and our voice was heard. We were given the independence to be who we are and make our own choices – for everything. I can’t really think of an exception.

T: Trust. I have shared this many times before but once more for those who haven’t heard. When I went to Nagpur for my post-graduation, I relocated from Bangalore. I paid my fees, got myself settled in and for two years, I was in Nagpur. My parents trusted me on my word. I always wonder what if I had just asked for money and not gone to Nagpur. What if I had run off somewhere? Who would know? Why did they never think of checking on me?

S – Simple living and high thinking. That’s the philosophy my parents live by. It’s the person that matters, the ideas that count and a kind heart that’s important. Everything else, takes a back seat.

****

B – Big ideas and ambitions. Always the one who would share perspectives that no one would have thought. 10 years ago, he did not want to do a 9-to-5 job but have more control over how things are run in a company. Fast forward today, he cracks deals for his company and know what the market demands.

R – Reliable. If you depend on C for something, it will be done. Not just that – he will find the best way to do that and you will be delighted.

O – Observant. Someone who speaks less but knows more. He would know what I was thinking before I could share that. When he last came to Bangalore, I was advised how my furniture can be done to look smarter. Well, I sold it off.

T – Truthful. Even if it hurts, I have seen C speaking the truth and sharing what’s on his mind. It’s not easy and people like me will sugar coat it but he would not. Plain vanilla truth is his style.

H – Humane. One who can’t see anyone in pain – loved ones or otherwise. Humans or animals. A soft soul with a smile on the face.

E – Eye for detail. That comes with the work he does but I consider that important. Color coordination, patterns and layouts. Something that I know no one does better.

R – Relaxed. How can I forget that relaxed face before exams? When I would fret over how much is remaining to read, he would smile and walk out with a pen in hand. No books to revise and no big bag to carry. I still wonder how could he stay so calm in strenuous situations?

****

H – Hero. Well, as clichéd as it might sound, VT is the hero of my life.

U – Unconditional. For the unconditional love that he has for his family. Most of the times unexpressed, but it shows up in his eyes.

S – Sincere. Every day I see him work so hard and keep going on. Someone who sets goals, achieves them and moves to the next one. *touch wood*

B – Big hearted . Someone who has that big heart, smiles and agrees to loved ones. May take time and never for himself but others.

A – Ambitious. Goals, growth and the passion to do better in life. When I see him, I know there is so much more to do and time is always running out. This is an inspiration for me too.

N – Natural. The one who advised me to leave the kneaded dough in fan so that it can dry up. He cracks me up many times a day. That’s what I call naturally silly!

D – Down to earth. That was one of the many things, I fell for and he continues to be the same.

Who would you like to thank today?
