I am a flower vendor.
This pavement is my workplace and the chaos around my music.
While I sit with these flowers, I don’t have many to talk to.
Customers here and there but not the same everyday.
They bargain and want flowers, sometimes for God or their vehicles. Sometimes for their hair.
I sit alone garlanding these and hoping to sell the whole lot by the end of the day.
My work is my pride and it brings bread home.
I am a flower vendor.
#WomenAtWork is a new regular photo feature on this blog and today it’s #1.
First Sunday of every month, I will share with you a picture and little story about a woman at work. Though women are taking many steps forward and joining the workforce, being the breadwinner and standing up for their rights, the numbers are still not as high as it could be. This feature is a desire to bring common woman who work to the light of appreciation. If you get a chance to click pictures of #WomenAtWork, please feel free to use the hashtag but also give me a shout out. Our efforts could go a long way to encourage someone. It takes a first step to anything better.
Today’s post is the inaugural one and this picture was clicked in Jayanagar, Bangalore while I was on the streets shopping with a friend. This woman’s dedication to her work was the inspiration behind the idea.

I love this #womenatwork idea! I will definitely try to participate with pics when I can! What a great way to shine the light on the inherent value of women.
