J for Just Do It #AtoZChallenge

Power is right here, in our hands.
Power is right here, in our hands.

One needs to have the belief to bring about a change. Whether alone or with the group, it’s the thought that matters. Many women living in tough conditions believe in themselves and that thought is enough to do something for their betterment and the society they are a part of. All they must have thought of was ‘just do it’.

Sometimes in the form of a voice, a petition, a report or a complaint – many women are breaking barriers and stepping forward to talk about the issues that matter to them and to the society. They are not asking for a favor but asking for their right to live free and with dignity.

When abused by husband, they don’t want to settle the score.

When sold by father, they don’t want to go back home.

When forced to abort, they want to bring the girl-child in the world.

When faced with discrimination at work, they want to ask for what’s their right.

When raped, they don’t want to see themselves at fault.

They want justice and they want for themselves and others. These women around the world are like you and me. With dreams in their eyes and hopes in their heart.

What we can do – support, spread some good word about their work, talk about the struggles and how they are facing it and challenging the status quo. Use social media to not just post your travel pictures but also to share a line or two about the world that needs you. As fellow human beings, men and women – we ought to give them some love and support.

Just do it!

I am blogging from A to Z during April  and the theme I have chosen is set on women. I am also a minion on co-host Pam’s Unconventional Alliance along with Claire, Shalini and Rajlakshmi. Visit us, show us some love and don’t leave without sharing your thoughts.

  1. Very well said Parul. Many a times, we become indifferent. We give a blind eye when instead the minimum we can do is spread the word. When your thought is for the good, just go ahead and DO IT!

    Good work there.

  3. Well said! This was one of the reasons why I chose my theme to be centered around women. There are still a lot of issues to be addressed and nobody seems to be even raising their voice. I try to do it through the little ways I can, through the words I write.

  4. I must point: That you’re doing a superb job of ‘just doing it’! These posts are truly eye-openers about so many things I didn’t know, and was not exposed to.
The little things that we all do, will snowball into a great revolution. Who knows? It might lead to a brighter future for our children and grandchildren 🙂
    Cheers, Parul! ❤

This speaks for me. I don’t understand why people can’t use such a wonderful platform for spreading good vibes, sharing success stories.

  8. The time is now, let’s not let this new-found resolve slip away from our grip.
    Yes, let’s just do it!
I agree, we all can make a positive difference in our lives and of those around us by speaking up when we should.

  10. Well said! We must do our bit and support and help whosoever who needs that comforting word or help spread the word. It’s the least we can do for the battles that they are fighting!

  11. Well said Parul! When people say facebook is such a waste of time where each one is in the quest of showing it off to the world, they do not exactly realise the power of facebook or other social media channels.

  12. We are privileged in the sense that we have a voice , we have support systems and we have been brought up to stand tall . The onus therefore is on women like us to not whine or blame centuries old traditions or let the attitude of others bring us down. Just do it is the right approach when it comes to dealing with discrimination or any other issue just because we are women. We don’t need to change the world , we can simply start with our self and then take small tiny steps .. like you & increase the circle 🙂
