Look up and see beyond

Look up and see beyond the obvious..
Look up and see beyond the obvious..

Look up and see beyond the obvious.

See the Sun and those rays and not the clouds.

You needn’t be Sania Mirza or Jennifer Aniston to agree to that.

Why should any woman feel complete only after marriage or motherhood?

Why is a man called successful and a woman asked about settling down?

To get married is a choice as much as it is to be a mother.

It doesn’t make anyone complete nor it is the biggest achievement of life to boast of.

Why is being happy not enough and why is there a need to prove something?

Look up and see beyond the obvious.

This is Day 6 post for the Write Tribe Festival of Words.

  1. How i wish people do see beyond the obvious.
And not be satisfied by mere materialistic accomplishments but by the accomplishments of things their souls desire the most!
    Beautiful thoughts!

  2. You know what, things would be super simple only if we learned to look beyond the obvious. All these tags and reasons are just so unwanted and unnecessary most of the times.

  3. Very relevant with the recent happenings! Wish people would look beyond, it’s not so difficult, it’s just the shackles of an obsolete mindset that is holding them back.

  4. I watched Sania Mirza’s interview on TV yesterday, and it was so inspiring. There are so many things we women can do, without the support of anyone else, isn’t it!

  5. We can also look beyond the obvious by looking within the obvious.one should enjoy each and every phase of life .

  6. I read the excerpt of Sania’s interview. Kudos to her answer. Why should being a mother be more important than being Number 1 in tennis and bringing laurels for the country? Looking beyond the obvious is imperative. The other side is you, I and many others agree to looking beyond but there are many from the previous generation and from ours too who will force women to abide by the obvious. A woman is subject to numerous judgements and only she herself can rise above all.

  7. That’s a lot of food for thought! Somehow, that’s the mindset of the society is. Man can go, travel, take time for financial stability and then think of a child but a woman… that’s not important.. her opinions are not important.. her financial stability is barely a requisite. And that is where it gets into my nerves!

    Very well penned Parul 🙂

  8. Rightly said! Women are still labeled to have a family to be successful. it irks me when girls in my family are asked about marriage when guys of the same age are not bothered with such enquiries.

  9. Powerful. As a guy, I also face the same about marriage but honestly, it’s not my thing and don’t need to be settled through marriage, like Sania said. Girls and Boys! be yourself.

  10. What a gorgeous shot of the clouds! I can’t stop admiring it 🙂
On a serious note, the post is really thought-provoking! Facing a society that is sick because of social conditioning which makes it want to stereotype women and question why procreation does not feature in the agenda of someone who is already an achiever! You’re right…very few actually even try to see beyond the obvious!

  11. I read the interview with Sania. It’s the same with every woman, isn’t it? Sometimes I feel angry at all these nonsense. Thankfully, I don’t pose such stupid questions to my unmarried friends or married ones without kids. You know Parul, someone in my family asked me about my plan on undergoing surgery to stop pregnancy in the future now that I’m going to be a second-time mother. I was devastated with that. The emotional turmoils that we go through, whatever be the relationship status or the number of kids, no one wants to know. But they sure like adding fuel to the fury. Between, nice shot. 🙂
