Step into my shoes

I am a two-year-old and I have tiny shoes. Would you like to step into them? It’s not as easy as you think. No, it’s not about the size but what it means to me and the people around me.

I can say ‘No’ when I want and no one minds it. Even if they do I don’t care about it.

Will you eat something, baby?

No.

Will you go bed now?

No

Do you want more?

No.

See, it’s that easy for me. I never explain and I am always comfortable when I say No.

Can you try that? Not just saying but being comfortable with a No?

I live in the moment, always.

If I don’t get something that I really want (like a chocolate), I cry but then in no time I forget that I was not given one and who did not give one to me. Carrying grudges is not something I have heard of. What is that? I have heard adults talk about that present is a gift. Look at me. All I need is a bit of distraction and I am good with chocolate or no chocolate. I live in the moment which is a gift.

Can you try that? Stop memorizing who said what and when and stop worrying about tomorrow.

I never expect anything.

Someday Daddy picks me up from daycare and some day, Mumma. Sometimes, he plays with me and on some days, she. I don’t ask for gifts or expect that they will get me one. Or if I kissed them, they would kiss me back. It’s simple you see. I go with the flow and enjoy what comes to me. Sometimes I cry but so what? That’s not the end. I don’t want a new toy to play or a bigger bed. I don’t plan to dine out or a trip abroad. Looking at the time is something that I don’t do when I am at day care. Mumma or Daddy will come when they have to but I never worry. I like to keep things simple.

Can you try to put your expectations aside?

My shoes are tiny and I know it’s hard for you to step into them. But you can try. There is a book at home and it says, “Nothing is impossible.” Do you know what that means?

I am with Team #CrimsonRush and today is Day 5 of the #BarAThon.

  1. Those tiny shoes have mighty hearts. And NO EGO. Pretty hard for us to step in. But worth every effort. Loved it thoroughly, Parul. Very well done! 🙂

  2. You’ve put across such an important point so simply, Parul. I’m going to save this and read it each time I can’t seem to make sense of things.
The best thing, and take on the prompt I’ve read so far.

  3. Tiny shoes, great minds!
I wonder what makes us forget the little simplicities of life as we grow up.
