A part of me is happy that August is over. Just a day more to go. A month of more downs than ups. However, a lot of people and things kept me going and my heart is full of gratitude.
Friends have been the highlight this month and you will see the theme emerging from this list. Having a set of people who are kind, fun and understand you make life easy to handle in tough time. Won’t you agree?
Online shopping: I know you are thinking how but let me explain. All the weeks this month were packed and I needed stuff. E-retailers have made life so much easy. Shopping online is efficient and this month I saved a lot of time buying things that I wanted without having to step out. I am grateful to all those companies and entrepreneurs who bring a whole market right on our screens.
Friends from my blogging community: This month I started a blog hop for my monthly feature #WomenAtWork and friends from my blogging community came together to support. It’s just a beginning and I like taking small steps. I am sure that more bloggers will join and help bring to light the many careers women have taken up all around the world. Vidya and Tulika – I am grateful for all your help, encouragement and support.
School friends: It’s been long since I left school but the ties of friendship have not been severed. A couple of friends from my school days have stayed connected and it is wonderful to interact, crack those old jokes and laugh together. This month they were uniquely funny and I loved how in spite of so many years and life experiences between us, some things never change. I am grateful for not losing touch and staying together.
A doctor friend: She is always there to help us understand the subject. Coming from a family of non-doctors, these days a hospital visit feels like a trap. No offense to my doctor readers but they too have targets to meet and the people like us face the brunt. A visit to a physician means three grand on a normal day. I am grateful to have PS around with her advice and love.
Rakshabandhan: I miss being home on festivals – food, those little rituals, and making memories. Rakshabandhan was mid-week and that meant no time for anything special. I was able to buy Rakhis and send them across, just in time. God bless the courier companies for their prompt services. To add to that, friends stopped by and we dined together at home. We made many happy memories. Friends are the family we choose and I am grateful to all of them.
Home-cooked food: My allergy has been a blessing in disguise. While I have been figuring out what’s causing the many issues, the home-cooked food has kept me light, healthy and of course my weight in check. I love to indulge and I cheat. However, this month I avoided everything junk possible (on most days). Through this, I realized that it does wonders to overall well-being. Things will stay like this and I am not upset. I am grateful that I get cooked food at home that’s safe for me.
There was a lot more this month. Eating together, visits and drives, the lovely weather, seeing the city gear up for Ganesh Chaturthi and many good days. I am looking forward to September. Festivities have kicked in and better days will be ahead. I am hoping to continue the focus on health, work, and this blog. Gratitude is helping me accept things as they are and I am willing to take that path.
How was August for you? What is that one thing you are grateful for that would like to share with me?

Thank you for joining me, Parul!
Friends are a treasure, truly 🙂 I am glad you had a good, loving month! Online shopping is a boon for me, as it means I can focus time spent shopping for routine stuff can be better diverted. I saw your rakshabandhan photo on facebook – so pretty! Yay! about the home-cooked food. That’s half your health goal met!
Oh yes, having a doctor friend really helps, especially to clear doubts and explain things that doctors feel we should automatically know!
Looking forward to the WomenAtWork hop, Love and hugs!

So lovely to read your gratitude post, Parul. A big thumbs up for the homecooked food. 🙂 August has been hectic workwise. Traveled to Mysore for the Independence Day weekend which was great fun. Was sick with a nasty cough for a week due to the weather. But overall a good month. September begins with a few birthdays in the family including the younger son’s, some holidays and festivals and the mother of all pains, SAs or terminal exams for the kids. 😀 So a mixed bag there. Hope you have a great month.

Lovely gratitude list, Parul. Always good to keep ties with those along the way because who knows, we may need a friend in need one day. And not just for the benefit of ourselves – company often lifts all of us together. As you said, we get to share jokes with each other that we know and used to share, and so share good moments and feel good once again 🙂
For August, I am glad to have traveled to a few new towns around me. It is refreshing to have gotten out and explored away from my usual territory 🙂

What a fabulous gratitude list.I have just started venturing online for shopping, enjoying the process but a bit wary of trying new things 🙂 I was home in Mumbai for Rakshabandhan and had a great time but am missing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at home, can’t run off to Mumbai every few days, can I ?
