I am a captain.
Flying from one destination to the other,
the best life lessons came from my father and mother.
When studying psychology, I found my passion.
One day like a light fills the heart, I knew I was meant to be in aviation.
A flight school in Florida taught me my lessons
and steered my career into the right direction.
I went up the air first with GoAir
and now in IndiGo, in the cockpit is my chair.
Supportive family and friends are my strength,
with their support I can go any length.
If I take a break from flying, like my mother I will be a teacher,
nothing else but a Simulator Instructor.
There is no substitute for hard work and following our goals,
that’s the thing making happy souls.

When I was flying to Chennai in July, Akriti was leading us to our destination. Though I was too shy to meet her and say hello, she was friendly enough to share her mail id. Since then, we have been in touch and I am happy to have her on this blog today.

Wonderful article Parul! As they say “Do what you like, like what you do”. Captain Akriti Sharan is an inspiration for all youngsters regardless of gender. To have accomplished so much in presumably a short span of time speaks volumes about her hard work and determination. I recently had the privilege of flying with Captain Sharan in the control, needless to say she is a fine pilot.
