I am a scientist.
Everyday in my lab is an adventure,
for the human kind and not for leisure.
I love discovering things,
the joy of what’s next gives me wings.
In school, I chose to study Biology and never stopped learning.
The flame of desire to grow in the field never stopped burning.
From masters to doctorate,
Grants helped me set up my lab in this state.
My supportive family is my pillar of strength,
when I feel low, they cheer me up.
Belief in self, enjoying life and standing for each other,
What would I be without my loved ones, I ponder.
When I retire, I will open a French inspired cafe in Pondicherry,
going back home for good, is my plan to be merry.
I believe in equal opportunities for daughters and sons,
being a woman does not make you less than anyone.
Don’t let others decide for you what you can or cannot do,
that’s my message for each one of you.
I am Vaishnavi Ananthanarayanan and I am a scientist.

Today is edition #10 of #WomenAtWork, a regular photo feature on this blog. If you are interested in participating, please read the inaugural post and join by adding your linky below. I would love to see your take on the tag.
This year, I attended a Women in Science edit-a-thon and met Vaishnavi. She is a beautiful person and I am happy she is spreading positive vibes here this Sunday.
How to link?
- You can only join with a blog post.
- It would be great to see a picture of a woman at work and a few words about her. If you cannot share a picture, you can share a picture of her workspace. With a real picture, I would still be able to call this a photo post.
- Use the linky to add your post.
- Visit others and show some love.

Beautiful lines, Parul. I am one too 😃 and I can relate to all that’s written from a scientist’s thoughts.
