The Gandhi Bazaar experience

Gandhi Bazaar in South Bangalore is well-known for flowers, fresh fruits, and vegetables. As we walked along the main road to spot Vidyarthi Bhavan, I was mesmerized by the hustle bustle of the area. The shopkeepers selling their stuff and striking a good bargain, people finishing their chores, buying their daily needs and then on the main road the usual traffic and public transport. The road was alive in the true sense. There was an energy around the place and I could not miss capturing it.

Have a look at some photos from Gandhi Bazaar that hardly describe the real experience.

  1. I so enjoyed this photo walk, Parul!
I, too, love gazing at the sights that welcome me at the local bazaar. Everything you see everywhere is so fresh and the place is full of life! You at once come alive when you visit such a market, don’t you? 🙂

  3. I have just passed through Gandhi Bazar while commuting to and from office when I used to live in Rajajinagar. It has some kind of energy which is hard to ignore. Loved the visual tour you took us through, Parul.

  4. I use to visit nearby by Sunday market for vegetable shopping earlier 😀 it was fun to do it 😉 lot of varieties and lot of hustle and bustle and lot of public interaction for people like us 😉 who sits behind the screens all day 😀 That fruit next to bananas looked fig to me, though I am not sure. I loved the beetle design 🙂

  5. Wow…what splendid captures! So much color and energy. I enjoy visiting vegetable markets this time of the year when the produce is fresh and dirt cheap. I couldn’t exactly place the fruits next to the bananas, but they vaguely resemble ‘Ramphals,’ which are supposed to be opposite of Sitaphal. But I’m not sure.

  6. Finally …. a place I have been too.. (despite not being to Vidyarthi bhavan). When in bangalore years back. my parents used to come all the way to Gandhi Bazaar to buy stuff every time there would be a festival. Things used to be really cheap way back then. And the stuff they used to buy would be totally farm fresh.

  8. Amazing captures, Parul. The beetle leaves pattern is simply cool. This reminded me of the market – Mubarkiya in Kuwait, we visited a few days ago. It was buzzing with life and colors too. 🙂
