Pink is a color that’s associated with a lot of things including femininity, charm, beauty, and romance. Today’s post is all about this lovely color and that it is more than just a color for little girls.
- In the pink: Are you in the pink of your health? Do you take care of yourself and stay fit?
- Pink slip: Getting offered a pink slip sounds scary but that’s how work could get. Nothing is ever certain.
- A pink elephant: This one means to hallucinate from alcoholism.
- Pinkie: Smallest finger on your hand is a pinkie.
- Pink collar: The phrase used to define a job only taken up by women.
- Pink Money: An economic term which refers to the spending power of the LGBT community.
- Tickled pink: Whenever you readers stop by to leave a word of encouragement, I am tickled pink.
So, tell me if you learned something new today and if you have noticed men donning pink and shades of it. Let a color be a color and not associate it with males or females.
Pink or blue – they are just colors.
I am participating in the A To Z Challenge for the third time this year and I am penning Stories from everyday life.

I never heard the term pink collar before. Interesting.

I hate when the colours are used to signify a certain gender. I hated pink as a kid and refused to buy anything pink as I did not want to be stereotyped. Even today sadly, in the kids’ section in clothing stores, you find the pinks and blues. Sigh.

I love pink. I think it is a color that is flattering to everyone.
My daughter’s nickname is Pinky. She couldn’t say her name and loved the color pink so Pinky she became. Family still calls her that even though she is now a 30 year old attorney.

Maisie’s new bestie Leonard wears pink shirts. She thinks they’re fab. I’m not a pink person myself. I own nothing pink…not even a pair of knickers! Bernie xx

I am so glad you said this. Pink is a colour, albeit a beautiful colour, that looks appealing on anyone, irrespective of gender. We went out of our way to break the mould and got everything in blue for GY when she was born 😉 Just to show that blue or pink doesn’t matter. It’s the perception that does.

I wasn’t aware of Pink Collar before. Good to have learnt something new today.
Personally, I only favor the shocking pink cz of my love for bright colors. No other shade of pink succeeds in seducing me otherwise 😀

I loved the phrase ‘tickled pink’. Something so playful about it.
I hate pink. Something about the color does not appeal to me at all. Ditto with orange.

I did learn something new today! Interesting. I do like pink but I like blue better, in fact blue is my favourite. Why can’t colours be just colours?

Quite glad that you wrote this, Parul. Pink has become so associated with gender that it’s almost impossible not to touch that topic when discussing the colour.
For starters, if it wasn’t for my complexion, I’d gladly sport a pink shirt. Of course, this birthday I gifted my son a lovely pink toy blender, a red kitchen set, a blue vessel, a green tawa – all play sets of course, but you get the gist.
