#WomenAtWork – A dog sitter

I am a dog sitter.

A dog lover and you can call me a rescuer too.

Shuttled between two states and held the family together,

life had changed suddenly after the death of my life-partner.

There was always a desire to do something again,

then my daughter turned this dream into an executable plan.

My work brings me immense satisfaction,

taking care of dogs, making their stay enjoyable and giving them a home is a happy chain reaction.

I am a do it yourself’ kind of person and sometimes I tire myself out,

However, my work makes me so contented that there is never a doubt.

I know the dogs’ habits and what keeps them healthy,

I ensure their boarding home makes them happy.

From morning till night – I am surrounded by three at a minimum,

food, play time, biscuits and tick checks are a part of the curriculum.

Pursue what you are passionate about and have the courage to move ahead,

age is a number and it’s never too late to do what you love and earn your bread.

My name is Renuka Prabhakar and I am a dog sitter.

Today is edition #17 of #WomenAtWork, a photo feature on this blog. If you are interested in participating, please read the inaugural post and join by adding your post below. I would love to see your take on the tag.

Renuka Aunty runs Tia’s in Bangalore and I met her this February when I had a chance to visit Tia’s.  She is a very warm person and when I met her, it did not feel I was meeting her for the first time. She is a fabulous cook too and had baked a delicious walnut cake for us. Her enthusiasm and love for dogs is infectious and she is inspiring.

Thank you Aunty, for sharing your story with us.

How to link?

  • You can only join with a blog post.
  • It would be great to see a picture of a woman at work and a few words about her. If you cannot share a picture, you can share a picture of her workspace. With a real picture, I would still be able to call this a photo post.
  • Use the linky to add your post.
  • Visit others and show some love.

  1. I love dogs too and know how difficult it is to care for them especially in big cities. It must take a lot of effort on Renuka’s part to take in new dogs every day

  9. “Pursue what you are passionate about and have the courage to move ahead.” Well said, Renuka. Love the photos! 😀 This is also my occupation. Greatest job in the world! ♥ As a life-long dog person, it seemed to be a natural choice. It was a new profession when I started in 1994, but many people are doing this now. it’s an important service.
