When in Ladakh, it is common to spot Gompas. These monasteries are same in a lot of ways yet different in many. You will begin to predict what will you see once you are inside a Gompa but you will still want to visit. The colors are vibrant and against a pristine sky, the structure looks serene and grand. As you can imagine, photography enthusiasts won’t be able to stop clicking.
So, when we were visiting the Shey Palace I spotted eight white domes on the exterior of the palace. I loved how symmetrical they appeared. The way they were placed and the backdrop mesmerized me. I wanted to try different frames but even after clicking many shots, I wasn’t able to decide which one best represented what I wanted.
Here are my top three frames from the same place.

Does this happen to you too? Aren’t these hard choices for any frame lover?

Photography is more of an art…there are many perspective (depending on who is looking). I would go with the first one, but an elevation would have given it its due (that could have found a nice backdrop in it).

I like the first one too. And yeah, I face this issue many times. The confusion between two different angles of the same object 🙂

🙂 Don’t we all struggle with the same issues?

Each is different and I totally understand the dilemma you faced in choosing which shot to go for. Happens to the best of us too.I agree with Alok that Photography is an art and I think, it is something that we also learn, as we go along. Keep experimenting and keep that eye focused on what you want to see. Eventually, it is all about your vision and what you’d like to bring to the world through your pictures that is uniquely you. Loved the first and the last pics very much.

I’m a sucker for a lot of negative space and symmetry in frames, so the first one has got to be my favorite.

I see what you mean. It’s a tough choice. Maybe the last one would be my favourite. But from a different perspective the first and second are lovely too.

The second I later realized is pretty different too 🙂 thanks Tulika!

Yes, even I can’t decide which one is the best. Ladakh is one place I am dying to go. Beautiful pictures. BTW, out of these three, I like the last one most as it also shows the landscape.

There’s always something amazing about places of worship. And high on the mountains with their spires, it is difficult to choose which angle to frame……….

Loved the one with moon in the frame Parul! Though each and everyone has a different eye for photography it is most important that one finds it satisfying enough after clicking. I guess usually it happens after a number of clicks 🙂

I liked the last frame here. The one that captures every essence of the place you loved so much!
