Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis extends on the entire length of the Mississippi River. It is an arched bridge made of stone. When I was looking up places to see in Minneapolis, the shape and architecture of this bridge was the first thing that attracted me.
Though I had gone to Minneapolis for work, I told my US peers about visiting this bridge.
I spent some good time clicking pictures and this one of the lot was my favorite. The day was beautiful and the long walk on the bridge was fun. At one point on the bridge, you can see the city behind which was a unique look of the city. The Sky scrapers and the free-ways looked beautiful from that angle. I wish I had stayed back longer to watch the Sun go down. I am sure that would have been another treat to the eyes. But did you know that the Sun used to be up until 9PM? There was no chance I would have been out so late clicking pictures. Okay, kidding! I had plans.
Many people were walking or cycling along the length of the bridge. I later learnt that this bridge was converted to a walking and biking bridge in 1994 by the Minneapolis Park Board. A good way to protect the heritage of the city.
We stepped down the bridge to look at the walls and I loved the design. Won’t you agree?
Joining Wordless Wednesday with Esha this week and this will be my #57. Head out to her post for more pictures from around the world.
Love to gaze at such structures that belong to a bygone era! Old is charming!

what I love about this picture is the contrast between the stones and the sky. Probably, this bridge has seen many seasons.

Oh it has. It was built in the 19th century and was once used for trains.

It’s a beautiful bridge. Never been to Minneapolis. One day, will. Could you take pictures of the river? Thanks for the post.

I couldn’t. I think it’s easier to get close to river in India vs in US 😉

This is so lovely, Parul. I feel like sketching this one…something to do with the shape and the texture of these stones makes me go back to the Manchester days! Thank you so much for sharing this picture and the context in which it was shot! I’m so glad to see you join in for #wordlesswednesday this week. I know you have an amazing collection of photos, so I’m looking forward to the coming weeks already. 🙂

I love bridges and this one looks fantastic! I know what you mean re the time…when we have daylight savings over spring and summer, the sun sets only around 8:30 p.m. It’s about to end for us in a couple of weeks and then in winter, it’s dark by 5 p.m.
