I met her when she was visiting her nephew in Bangalore. She knew a bit of Hindi but not much to understand and speak to me. When I asked her permission for a picture, she started crying. After losing her husband she believed that there was nothing beautiful left in her life. Her age was against her and that there was no one around to love her. I told her that her smile was beautiful but she did not accept my compliment. She let me click later and we hugged before I went back home.
I wish I could speak to her Nepali and console her a bit. She was indeed beautiful.
Another portrait photography attempt with the Canon. Today’s post is my #59 of Wordless Wednesdays hosted by Esha and Natasha.

Many times we meet people to whom we wanted to talk more. There’s always an urge to know more about that person. This lady has a different aura in her personality. This is a nice click.

This is a nice click and often it happens that we want to speak but language acts as a barrier. But often even a kind smile is enough to make someone feel better. Your hug would have helped her feel good.

Lovely woman indeed, I feel sad for her as widowhood isn’t easy at all in south asian context. I only say this from my own experience of watching my mother suffer for decades, thanks to you for showing her compassion and sharing with us! ❤

This is a beautiful portrait. I do wonder how old she is, and what her life has been like. I would have been too shy to do this.

Where are her children?

Bangalore and Chennai. But I feel children get busy with their lives. Eventually we are left alone.

Yeah ikr, that is so sad, and you can’t even blame them completely for it. But then, they could tell their mother that she is the prettiest woman ever ❤

She sure is beautiful and this breaks my heart. Doesn’t she have anyone else in her life? Parents, in-laws or children, maybe?
And you my dear, are an awesome person ❤

That’s a lovely capture of the lady. You’re getting better and better at capturing the essence of portrait photography, Parul. There’s so much heartbreak in every human being we meet, but it isn’t always that we can get to have an open conversation about their lives. I’m glad you were able to hug her and tell her that she is beautiful. Thanks so very much for joining in with your Wordless post this week, Parul.

Your photo could win a contest! Have you tried editing it in black and white? It might really bring out her features, but color is gorgeous too.

Your photo is just perfect, Parul, and what a touching story to go along with it! The lighting, color, and natural-feel of the photo are beautiful, but knowing the intimate story behind the photo makes it the best. I don’t know if there is anything that would make it better. Nice work!

Dear Parul,
Thank you so much for linking up with Esha and me for #WordlessWednesday.
Her weather beaten face speaks volumes Parul and you have so beautifully narrated the pain behind those expressions and face. It’s heart wrenching to hear her story and so glad you could give her a hug. And make her feel special for once.
Sending prayers and light her way and also loads of blessings for the beautiful large hearted you. ❤️✨✨✨
