Gratitude List – June 2018

June jogged away too fast. I know that I say this for most of the months so no excuses but you know what I mean. Don’t you?

Football. Work. Eat. Relax. Repeat the cycle.

I am not calling this monotonous but the month was a lot packed than I had expected. To add to the fun, we got hooked to some TV shows and then where was the time? I took up Write Tribe’s blogging challenge but failed. I was able to work out but my sweet tooth gave in many times. It rained and the weather was exactly how I love in Bangalore. Cloudy and cold. I also read Gone Girl, Purple Hibiscus and Better – A Surgeon’s Notes on Performance this month and I am loving to read as I fall asleep.

So, let me get to all those things that made me happy this month. And not in that order.

♥  The month opened its arms with the news that happiness and food made it to the list of the 8th edition of Top Indian Blogs. Out of ~40,000 registered blogs, 328 made it to the list and I couldn’t be more grateful. This blog gets neglected and I don’t like that. I try to manage but sometimes juggling is hard. I am thankful to all you readers because it wouldn’t have been possible without your love and support.

♥  Food and mostly home-made. Rice, kadhi, biryani, sattu ka paratha, egg sandwiches and all that good stuff. It is a blessing to have someone who cooks exactly how we like and I am grateful to have didi (my help) around. I don’t know what would have I done without her.

♥  This month my parents went on their first international holiday to Krabi and Bangkok. I was more excited that they were. I wanted  them to have a memorable time and their pictures showed how much fun they had . I am grateful that they got a chance to travel abroad and that they had good company. With Bua and Phupha around, I knew everything would have been sorted.

♥  VT and I binge watch TV shows over weekends. This month it was Stranger Things and Money Heist. Both of these shows were different and good story lines. When we do things together like watch TV shows, football matches or travel, it is great. Doing things together is love. Always grateful to the time we get with each other.

♥  Gaana.com. I know you must be aware of the app and that you can listen to free music on this one. I like listening to Hindi songs when I am getting ready for work. Somehow, that gives me the push to move fast. I don’t download music so these apps like Ganna or Saavn are the best for me. I am grateful that technology has made things easier for all of us.

♥  This month two of my pictures made it to Prasad’s May Digest. I admire his work as a photographer-blogger so when he picked up my shots, I loved it. It was inspiring to me as an amateur photographer and I am grateful he also saw something in the pictures I had shared on my blog’s Instagram handle

♥  Our apartment guard D got us some jamuns (Indian blackberry) one Sunday. What was more fun was that he did not buy it for us but there was a tree in our area that had many fruits and he plucked some for us and his family. I am grateful to have people around who share these little joys.

♥  I was able to stay at 20 days of workout this month too and I feel good. Yes, no weight loss but I feel fit and strong. Month after month, my back feels better and stamina too. Regular workout has been helping me and I want to continue that. I am grateful that I was able to run/walk and practice Yoga this month.

♥  My chacha-chachi were in Bangalore this month and I love when family is around. We met them on two days and we laughed hard together. My family and close relatives are up North so I feel I miss many things including festivals and celebrations. When ever any one is around, I make it a point to drop all plans and have a good time when I get a chance.

♥  I got a chance to curate the WeAreBangalore twitter handle this month. It’s always a fun experience and I am grateful that the admins reached out to me. More to come on the experience. It’s a story worth sharing.

I cracked silly jokes this month and also had a bit of fun in misery. My office is consolidating to one location and I will now travel more. It’s a big change but I prepared myself. So I am able to manage workouts in the morning before leaving for work. I feel more efficient with my time. I now need to work on getting back to my blogging schedules. On my mind is, writing consistently and working on this blog.

Change is the only constant. I am working on myself to accept changes and be comfortable with it. Whether it is commute or people, the more I am open the better I will feel.

How was June for you? Tell me one thing that made you happy this month.

Regarding exercise, the results will come, and they’ll come in a windfall. I don’t want to sound preachy, but hang in there 🙂

Here’s to the hope that you have another awesome month ahead. Cheers!

  4. Loved reading about your month. Working out for 20/30 days is great. I know not losing weight can be discouraging, but it’s been really slow going for me too, and I still have managed to hold on to my motivation to work out because of how great I feel after working out and yoga.

  5. Parul, I’m sure packing your parents off for a holiday and seeing them happy and enjoy must have been so satisfying!

So now you don’t have to shuttle between two places? I understand the pain of spending more time on traveling. Bangalore is not a great place to talk about commute!

Congrats! for making it to the list of top Indian blogs. BTW, it was only through your list that I came to know that jaipurthrumylens is also in that list. Thanks for leading me to the list.

It’s always nice to see our parents enjoying their lives, right? I’m happy for you. 🙂
Your reading list is good, Parul. I didn’t finish a single book this month, but I was busy throughout, so..
Too bad you had to bow out of the challenge, but I understand with work and commute and other things going on we can’t keep up with everything. Always a pleasure to read your gratitude list. Stay happy!. 🙂 ❤

  8. So wonderful to hear about your big and small achievements in June, Parul! Happy for everything that brought you joy and satisfaction and I also wish you an awesome July. I know the commute to your work will not be easy but you will prevail as a true Bangalorean would 🙂 and will continue to charm us with your posts, and your amazing captures! June for me and my family was a very difficult month and we are still struggling to recover from the jolts we got. It is hard and some days more so, but we will fight and not give in. Stay blessed, Parul. Happy July!!
