Life is a race

Life is a race and we are all running to make ends meet. It is not about who is the breadwinner or who keeps the home. Life has the skills to engulf us all. It is only normal that we go through the cycle of getting absorbed, realizing it’s not worth the effort and then breaking free. To add to the fun, we guide others to focus and get absorbed. Then leave them to find their own way.

Sounds silly I know but this cycle also teaches us lessons. That of humility, respect, dignity of labor, standing up for ourselves and perseverance.

Life is a race

While walking towards the Pebble Bay beach in Hong Kong, I spotted this lady. Something about her intrigued me. She was engrossed and also wanted to sell those knick knacks to the passersby. It was a juxtaposition as I saw it but then, who said life was simple?

I am participating in the third edition of Barathon and today is day 2. You will see me running a marathon of photo/travel posts on this space from July 2-15 every other day. Have a good time!

Also joining Esha and Natasha for Wordless Wednesday. My #64 this week.

  1. Reminded me of my days in HK .. roaming the streets where you see these men and women selling trinkets.. liked how you connected this picture to life being a race

  2. Thought-provoking! True life is a race but do we know the objective of this race… is it to win or is it complete it at our own pace while enjoying it as well!

  3. You interpretation of getting absorbed and its connection to this photograph really is praise worthy. Oh I love those fans though, I wish the weather in our country was more conducive to encourage carrying of those fans 😉

  4. I saw this picture on your instagram account. There’s something so sweet about this lady – that she’s deeply engrossed in what she’s doing. And I love your interpretations.
