It’s a time-block

time-block

It’s not the writer’s block this side. I have umpteen things to write about but I think I am suffering from something I would like to call a time-block.

The day-light savings have ended and now my work calls are pushed out by an hour. The traffic is worse due to white-topping of the roads. If you are wondering what that is, know that it is a fancy name for cementing of roads. Can you believe my commute to work has increased by an hour?

Mornings are about work-outs and then getting ready to leave for work. At work, I work. There is no scope for blogging. Weekends, I love to spend time with the guy who I took vows with.

In the past, November used to be NaBloPoMo and also Wikipedia Asia Month. Looks like now, I don’t even know what that means. Yes, I am upset about not being able to find time. So it’s fair to call it time-block.

Do you have any ideas for me that could work? How do you manage time? I know I am not alone here.

  1. I’d say don’t stress too much about it, the blog. Write when you feel like it. Blog hop when you can. The more you stress, the more tiring it becomes. If possible, set aside one day a week to blog. Just a day. That way you don’t overwork yourself 🙂

  2. It happens to most of bloggers at some point of time. All I can suggest is apps on your mobile/tablet which can be used during your commute will help you keep in touch.

  3. I will not be the right person to make a suggestion or offer an advice when I am not blogging myself. But I can understand your frustration.
I have tried working out many solutions myself in the past with my blogging and each time the plans have fallen flat. Today I settled down with I will write my stories on the blog once a week even if I am not able to read blogs.
I hope you do find your solution too and soon.
Wrt the white topping of roads, how long will it carry on? Even God may not have the answer to this question. I remember the nightmare caused by road closures in my area in the early part of this year.

  4. Just ease up a bit and do what makes you happy Parul; I write when I can and dont stress over it! Its great to see a post from you but dont kill yourself over it. Build a schedule where you tell yourself 1-2 posts a week and choose the days. I do this for my blog but when I dont write, i am cool with that too.

The road thing sound spainful – why cementing it?

  5. Dear Parul,

I’m in the same boat. And it’s frustrating when you are mind is teeming with ideas galore, but you can’t get to the desk and write. I’ve been in the same boat for now over a month and yes, it kills me too.
I guess every creative soul feels the way we do, when their creativity is not being utilised. I’m sure an artist feels the same way when they can’t make art. Or so would a photographer, or a writer for that matter.

Writing fuels our soul and infuses so much positivity in our lives.
Today is one of those days when I was bemoaning the fact that I haven’t been getting time to write. I miss writing my 100 word stories. Sigh!
But I guess all is not lost, and I so agree with Shy when she says allot that one day in the week to write. I’m asking for two, actually as I then end up only posting #WW posts!
Have so many tree pictures, but couldn’t even post on your anniversary for #TTL

Well, got to stop complaining and doing the best we can I guess. This too shall pass Parul and we will be back to business soon. ❤
    Much love xox

  6. Oh that’s frustrating that your commute has increased. But I echo was Shailaja has said – blog when you feel like it and engage when you can. I’ve been in that state not due to commuting but because of being overwhelmed by work and then having other priorities like exercise, socialising or going to the beach. I write when I can and engage when I can. If I know I can’t engage, I’ll not post my link on a linky. Looking forward to meeting you soon! 😀

  7. I am in the same boat. With so many things on my plate, I havent been blogging actively as well. Blogged today after a long time. Dont worry, you are not alone and dont stress about it too. I am sure you will be able to find your blogging rhythm despite the time-block.

  8. I was going through a phase last week when I had the time but no inclination to even open my laptop! But, I’d say, Parul, don’t fret about not finding time to write. Do what gives you happiness, whatever it will be. And, maybe, while travelling, you could make notes in your writing pad, or something and prepare topics to write about when you do find time. That way, whenever you do find even half an hour, you will have your post almost ready to type out!

    1. I get my notes while travelling so that helps but I am also trying to lock my time to write. Sometimes even 20 mins is good. I just need to practice that better. Thanks Shilpa!
