“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.”
― Roy T. Bennett

I spotted this tree in Sanchi on our recent #CentralIndiaRoadTrip. Mrs D. Margret Fernando from Colombo donated this tree to India on Dec 1, 1967 in memory of her parents. There were Sri Lankan flags on this tree and I loved to know a bit of story associated with the tree.
Thursday Tree love is a photo feature on this blog hosted on 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The next edition will be live on January 10, 2019. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.
If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.
Before you go, don’t forget to check the lovely trees shared on #ThursdayTreeLove – 53:

That’s the little story about the gift of tree to India. There is a small museum in Sanchi that’s maintained by Sri Lanka as it is believed that a part of mortal remains of Buddha were brought here from Sri Lanka.

Sounds interesting Parul, what a beautiful gesture to gift a tree:) I am glad these days awareness has increased among the urban population, these days for functions in institutions and other places i see the guest is gifted with sapling – in Hyderabad I have seen the trend growing. I remember my school and college days the guest were given lovely long colorful bouquets and thank God they have stopped plucking away such beautiful flowers only to be thrown in the garbage later on…this year on the independence day I got a flag pinned on my salwar and they told me that I can bury it as this little flag has seeds… loved the concept.

That’s a lovely idea. You are right – I am also seeing the trend catch up. The more gifts are green, the more value they will have for the future generation. Thank you for sharing that little piece of information and idea. I loved it.

I think all trees have a story to tell. Who was Mrs. Fernando? And why did she plant this tree? Perhaps we can do a google search? Happy New Year to you too!
