Hello 800!

I noticed it yesterday and then thought it would be the best to share the joy. Milestones after milestones are not scary but they do remind of things that need to be fixed.

I have been guilty of not being regular and I want to fix that. I don’t have a how-to plan but I will get there. Word after word and post and post. The intent is to be regular with writing and improve with every single post.

This post like you have guessed by now is the 800th post on this blog. I am happy and why not? Right after the six year mark this month, the 800 feels good.

So to inspire myself and those of you who have been regularly reading, here are some quotes that keep me going. They tell me that I need to do what I like. To spend time on activities that give me joy. Whether it is reading, writing or clicking. To be kind to myself and think of little things that are important. The color of the sky, the chirping of birds, the leaves that show up on the road, the trees that give us shade and the flowers that add color to life. And many more such things.

  1. “I am only one,But still I am one. I cannot do everything,But still I can do something; And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” – Edward Everett Hale
  2. “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”― Confucius
  3. “If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you’ll never have enough.” — Oprah Winfrey
  4. “Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” —Les Brown
  5. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.” —Mark Twain
  6. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.” —Dalai Lama
  7. “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” – Thomas Jefferson
  8. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy”. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon
  9. “Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”-Martin Luther King Jr.
  10. “You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I’ll rise!”― Maya Angelou

Which one of the above you liked most? Do you have a favorite quote that you would like to share? It’s my 800th and I would love more inspiration and sunshine.

  3. Congratulations Parul. You’re more regular than a lot of us. Also, we need to make time and space for life-experiences – those are what provide fodder for writing. Good luck for many many more posts.

  6. Do you know what I did soon after I read your post? No, not leaving a comment her. I went and checked how many I have written. 630! I can’t believe it 😛 Congratulations, Parul. I have always loved reading your blog posts because I love your style of writing – mostly personal so that I can easily relate to it. My favorite quote from the lot would be Martin Luther King’s. I mean, I so loved it that I have noted it down to add it on my planner 🙂

  7. Congratulations, dear Parul, and celebrations galore. I have to tell you something, you always have inspired me with your tenaciousness in this blogging journey. Thank you.

I’m biased towards Lenon, so naturally this one’s my favourite:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy”. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon

Also since I practise Buddhism this one resonates too:

“Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.” —Dalai Lama

Thanks for sharing these life-changing quotes.

You have yourself a wonderful week ahead. happy tidings!
