Harmandir Sahib

Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple is the preeminent spiritual site of Sikhs. It is a gurudwara (place of worship) located in the city of Amritsar in Punjab, India.

I visited Amritsar first in 2013 with family. While visiting Golden Temple was the intent, we also visited the Wagah Border, the Jallianwala Bagh and the Durgiana temple. It was a short but memorable trip. Since then, VT and I have longed to go back again.

This year when we had to rush home in September, both of us (without talking to each other) thought of visiting Harmandir Sahib when things improve. Weeks later we shared this with each other and I knew, this would happen one day and before we head back to Bangalore.

After a lot of tough weeks and months, December started looking hopeful. This December we clocked 10 years of our wedding so it felt like the apt time to pay respects at the temple. We skipped every thing else this time in Amritsar but the Golden Temple.

Those were beautiful 24 hours when we got to visit the temple at night and then early in the morning. Leaving you with pictures and the message that what the heart desires, happens.

I am grateful we got a chance to visit the temple in a year that was hard and tough. It did bring a lot of calm and hope.

Linking up with Natasha for #WordlessWednesday and this is #103 on this blog.

  2. Lovely pictures. What an attractive structure! I’m sure the energy in there is great, too. I missed a chance to see it, some years back. I just have to see it for myself some day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Congratulations on the 10 years.
And I’m sure this year will be better than the last. Happy 2021. ๐Ÿ™‚
