Gratitude List – February 2021

Twenty eight days of February flew by. When I look back, I see us settling into the mundane and getting to the rut of life. My list includes walks and workouts, time with friends, reading, crochet and the likes. There is no chill in the Bangalore weather now and the Sun seems to get harsher every passing day. February- April are our summer months and that’s what the Sun is telling us.

Here are a few things through the month I am grateful for.

โ™ฅ I did well on my walks and workouts. Did not accomplish my goals but 17 days of the month, I was on my toes sweating it out. I am also walking at least 20 minutes these days to stretch those extra muscles. Strava is sure a good partner there.

โ™ฅ I hired a help to cook for us. She is a kind woman and I am glad we found her. Attitude matters over skills. Skills can be learnt but if the attitude is right, it makes the journey better. I am grateful to RD for her recommendation. I am no longer burning food and life is better this side.

โ™ฅ VT and I again bought some plants and added to our family. We are now a family of 50. And we are happy. The green around, the buds and the flowers add to a little bit of nature in our home.

โ™ฅ The flowers in my little balcony garden bloomed and made me smile. I have colors around and that is something I love. I am grateful that we get some bright morning Sun that helps my little plants stay healthy and happy.

โ™ฅ I think about this often that different friends are for different seasons/reasons. A happy friendship is where one doesn’t expect all from one or one from all. In tune to that, I was a bit off on a missed opportunity and my friend cooked for me and made me smile. The hugs and the care from all quarters matter. Always grateful for good friends.

โ™ฅ I visited office this February and I couldn’t stop smiling. It was just a happy day meeting some peers and walking around the hallways. I adapted to working from home quickly but I miss going to office. I am grateful to have a job that I enjoy.

โ™ฅ My parents celebrated their 40th year of wedding in February and they are my love. Some times I wonder that God was kind that I have parents like Mum and Papa. For the last 40 years, they have celebrated togetherness and stayed by each other’s side. That makes me happy. I am excited that I will get to see them in March. It’s been a long time since I met my parents so I can’t wait to be home.

The sunrises, calls and chats with friends and family, walks to the nearby haven and crocheting new patterns has kept me going.

I am marching into March with the hope of being a better person with less expectations from the world. I am grateful for all that life has to offer.

How was your February? What are you looking forward to in March?

  1. I am looking forward to some meetings with old and new friends, filter kaapi, Bisi bele bath and books-just like in Feb. and Jan.- now in Bangalore instead of elsewhere, having moved here. Luckily, I have an office to go to-two, in fact. So it’s a relief that I do get to socialise. Travel is off, for the moment, but I am not complaining. I also cooked a bit, and the Stew and the saute-d Chinese came off well.

  2. Greenery at ome somehow cheers things up and it is really nice to get help while you can. I find that cooking at home becomes an all consuming task and unless you are passionate about food or cooking, its far more convenient and productive to get help. Hope March isn’t a blazer and gets you lots of things to be grateful about too!

  3. 50 plants! You need to teach me how you keep them alive! Happy anniversary to your parents! Mine celebrated 40 years last year too. I hope you get to go back to the office soon. I’m fortunate to have a separate space at home for work. Hope March is a good month for you Parul!

    1. You have to visit us, Sanch! I don’t do much. We just take turns to care of them and then I talk to them ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thank you, Sanch! Wishing you a happy March too.

  4. Happy 40th to your parents! It’s a blessing to see your parents celebrate their togetherness, Parul. I am not so much blessed in that regard. Reading about your parents’ togetherness always makes me happy.
Wow, a family of 50 you said! How are you finding the time and space to take care of that many plants? Do they have names? We have two plants at home. Kanna named them Bill and Jill. ๐Ÿ™‚ But none of us, including Kanna, remembers which is Bill and which is Jill! ๐Ÿ˜‚
I haven’t written my gratitude post this year. Somehow it all seemed pointless. But whenever I read yours I get this urge to write one. Actually after reading your January gratitude, I started writing one. Then I just didn’t publish it as it felt too personal and I didn’t want to talk about certain things publicly. I never had this trouble in writing a gratitude post before.
Anyway, it’s always a pleasure to read yours, Parul. I am happy to see that you are getting back to regular blogging. Blogging world really missed your constant presence for sure. ๐Ÿงก
Wish you a fantastic month ahead! ๐Ÿค—

  5. Happy 40th to your parents! So good to have plants at home, no? We had to rearrange all our plants to make room for Waffle. We moved it to the other balcony and thank God they continue to thrive โค

Attitude matters more than skill, no doubt about that at all. The right attitude can help you learn anything. Good you got in help, it can get really hard at times.

I miss going to office too, but with the new boy around, I don't want to anymore.

    Wishing you a fabulous March!
