This sky and some reflections #2

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are doing well and taking care of yourselves.

As I got to my desk this evening to pen some reflections along with a piece of my sky, my thoughts wandered on what would be the best thing to share with you all.

I would love to talk about how my July went by but then there is also a lot to be grateful for in July. So how about I share with you all some moments of gratitude from the month gone by?

I know I can’t really wait for your answer so I will go on and I know you will also stick around.

Let’s first talk about this slice of sky: When it comes to spotting rainbows, I consider myself lucky. A few weekends ago, it rained a lot. I was in my bed watching TV and crocheting. The day was quiet and restful. Just like the weekends I like. Then I got up and went to the kitchen to make some tea and I spotted a bright sky. As if Sun was trying to play hide and seek. I thought to myself that a rainbow should be around some where and by the time that thought actually crossed my mind, I spotted this rainbow. It was a faint yet full rainbow. It also vanished in less that 60 seconds. I am always grateful for these little moments of joy.

Crocheting: If you have been around, you know crochet is my latest love. It has my heart and money. July, I made some a bandana for the first time. A few more people loved it so I ended up making four in July and that was fun. Want to see my work? Head to Instagram and feel free to follow.

Health: I was sick in July. Amdist many anxious moments, I am grateful I recovered at home. Health is like an account. You keep accumulating nutrition, active lifestyle and mindful eating. And then when the need comes, this account’s balance saves you from a rainy day. This happened with me. So learning from the episode, I am going to keep adding to my health account. Every day, every meal and every activity counts.

Friends who are family: A close friend of mine and I started our monthly ritual of half a Sunday together. Just us and no spouses. For the last three months we have explored new places, some new cuisines and also gave each other a lot of listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. Friends matter and every relationship needs work. I am grateful for my set of friends who are family.

I am also grateful for my little family. My mum starts to pray when I am sick, VT’s optimism makes me feel better and Papa gives me my space. I don’t like being asked how I am doing and he knows that well. Not just that, I am lucky to have lovely neighbours who fed me some comfort food this month. My help who cooks made me juices and soups and also made sure that I eat light and healthy.

These were all rainbows in the sky of my life for this month’s reflections.

Tell me some of your reflections from the last month. I would love to hear from you.

Take care of yourself and thank you for being here. It matters.

Every first Monday of a month, I will share with you a piece of sky that I see and some reflections. If that is something that strikes a chord with you, you are most welcome to join. There are no rules here. The next edition will be live on September 4.

  • If you are a reader, let me know what you think of the post and the reflections. Your comment will give me some food for thought.
  • If you are a blogger and would like to write – post a picture of your sky, write on your blog and leave a link here. Better if you can also link back to this post.
  • Last request – don’t forget to tell me the city and country where you clicked the picture.

Before you go, don’t forget to read the reflections and see the slice of sky posted on This sky and some reflections #1:

  1. Love the idea of the sky reflections, Parul! So glad you’re doing this. I shall try and join you every month as I post for #Skywatchfriday every other week, so this certainly looks doable!
Seems like July was a mixed month for you. Hope health is better now and you’re feeling energetic again. Family is such a blessing, isn’t it?
You do have some gorgeous sky views from your high rise flat, Parul! I watch out for your sky pics on IG! The half-a-Sunday plan with your friend sounds so tempting—I’ve been thinking of taking one day to myself every week doing something I enjoy OUTSIDE the house. It’s still a plan—but I really need to execute it. 🙂
So wonderful that you continued to crochet this month despite the setbacks on the health front…I love your crochet work, they always come out really nice and pretty. I wish I could learn to crochet like you someday. It must be so satisfying!!

Here’s wishing that August gives you more reasons to smile and be happy about, Parul.
    Stay well, safe and healthy.

    1. Thank you so much, Esha! The planter that you liked is with me and it’s yours. Crochet is easy and youtube is such a big resource. But thank you for your encouragement. Means a ton to me. ❤

  2. What a beautiful month it was, Parul! I like your monthly ritual with your friend, Parul. Spending half a Sunday together with a friend is like scheduling in a self care day, isn’t it? I love your crochet pieces! They are amazing.
I had an okay July. Kids are back to school. I am not able to recall anything in particular. But my general feeling is the one of gratitude and blessed. That means something, isn’t it?
