Happy Spring!

When The Daily Post came up with a photo challenge on what Spring means to me, it got me to do something that I haven’t tried before. Along with Vikas, today morning we drove up to what I call the “Central Park” of Bangalore – Cubbon Park. The intention was to capture Spring. Though Bangalore remains pleasant throughout the year, during spring, the weather changes and it gets hot. This is the only time of the year when stepping out is a treat to the eyes and you can see why:

Cubbon park was beautiful even in such a weather and I loved the fact that though it was a hot day, the cool breeze brought the temperatures down.

So, Spring to me is this!! Beautiful colors of the nature and how these flowers can instill happiness every time I look at them.

For my botanically inclined readers, this flower’s scientific name is Delonix regia and in India, it is popularly known as Gulmohar. By the way, I should not forget to mention that we loved today’s random drive to Cubbon Park and we are going to do that more often!

  1. I love the sight of Bangalore streets dotted by gulmohar trees in full bloom…. did you know the tree is also called the “Flame of the Forest”? And for good reason! 🙂

I live 10 minutes away from Cubbon park, and it is a favorite weekend haunt of ours. In spring, the park floor is carpeted by yellow, white, purple and orange blooms, and the trees are all green. It’s a lovely, beautiful place, and one of havens of peace in this chaotic (yet, so beloved!) city.
