I have no freaking idea of how many times will this line be used on women?
Throughout the recent India-Australia semi final cricket match, I was pretty active on twitter and of course I was doing the normal – tweeting, re-tweeting and replying. But when this line was thrown at me, I was taken by surprise. It did not come once but many times.

Later that evening, I got curious to look in to my others folder on Facebook. This time I was taken by even bigger surprise. The others folder on your Facebook page is a place where you can get all sorts of compliments on your smile or your beauty. Not just that, people from other countries will claim that they know you and you seem familiar. Someone who can read that you are married will ask to you be friends cos they are new to the city and would love to meet like-minded couples. I wonder how they gauge if we think alike. There are some who would claim to be from the same city as yours and hence, it is normal to ask to be friends. Of course – the same logic goes with people from same schools or colleges.
If I am on social media and active, does it mean I am ready to be friends with any one? Having a Facebook profile that’s actively used to share status updates and pictures does not mean I want to start a new friendship. But still, they find it appropriate to give it a try. In the funniest sentences and spellings “frandship is must for laife”.
Oh, I agree to that and that is why I maintain my FB or my twitter one but then this guy on twitter thinks being in HR I am sitting on a pile of jobs and on the snap of my finger I know which companies are hiring and I can help. Asking for help is different from stalking for help and I do understand how to address either of them. First he follows, then asks me to accept his friend request on FB and then claims he is harmless and decent. Dude, I don’t agree to that. If you were decent, you would not throw those lines on me. Will you?

If I was looking for a date or somebody to pep my life up, I would go on Tinder or other dating sites and try my luck. Wouldn’t that be a definite way to get noticed?
Have you got such messages online and what do you think? Want to be friends? 😀
Looks like spam, but if that seriously a guy, just there is a reject action 😛 hehe Better not give a damn for the things we don’t like 🙂 hehhe

Ha ha! These are not in the friend requests else I would have rejected. These are messages in others folder. 😀

I also received a few similar kinds from “gals” who were very very “frandly” too….Its been ages, I havent checked the other folder in fb, good idea, I ll check it today though!! Generally, these are pests, of the absolute hopeless kind!

Lol! I still think they aren’t spam cos these profiles are active on FB!

Hmm…active spammers!! Sometimes, flagging them is useful though! Generally, blocking suffices! Bdw, are you friends on fb with your blogging community friends??

Oh yes! I get those in my others folder all the time… who are these people! But Parul, I’ll admit. I’d love to do a fly on the wall study on them.

Guess what, I just went to my others folder and was surprised to see the amount of spam there. Even had to block few because of the nature of messages they shared.

Haha Parul! I get that a lot! And I have a jolly good time reading them out to my husband! And someone said, “Hey Pari, can you please be friends with me…” I had the best laugh after a long time! 😀 Lovely post, by the way 🙂

I just checked my ‘Other’ Folder and found quite a few hilarious messages. While most were regular friendship types with weird fonts and spellings, one had the audacity to say “Moti… Jawab to diya kar” and this was after his ‘Hey beautiful’ message was ignored for 2 days! God! Sickos!

oh gosh! that’s so bad! I would go ahead and report the guy! 🙂

There are lots of such profiles in the social media. I get such requests quite often in Google plus and in Facebook. Haven’t checked the others folder in fb since last time I got a nuisance stalked, had to block him to get rid of the messages.

The part of being ‘TDH’ and a ‘singer’ is what cracked me up. The other folder is the funniest place I have ever visited. I once got a message saying the guy wanted to marry me. Mine was the ‘face he was looking for’ and finally ‘he found it’. This was around 2-3 years back and imagine my expression!? Soon, it cracked me up. Great post btw 🙂

Hahaha these kind of messages remind me of the times when social network got going in India back then with Orkut ;). I used to get a lot of bizarre messages in my Others folder but since I have stopped random people from being able to follow me, the messages have reduced to like 1 or 2 in few months.

Can totally relate to this… Have had messages for fraandship and even meeting… I mean honestly, why would I just go and meet a random guy who messaged me on FB? There was this one guy on twitter who started off with blog engagement, went on to flirting and then had to be blocked because he got downright vulgar… Have you had instances on instagram where some guy goes and likes all your IG pics with your face in it and ignores the flowers, landscapes and the kind? aarrrghhh!

Ha ha! I agree. I added some one on twitter. Unfollowed and stuff. Then met him and added him back but I agree. These people are made from something else. IG – I have kept it private. I choose who follows me. It’s safer that ways. And the moment someone tags me, they are out! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Those messages were indeed way too embarrassing but I want to tell something. I have been in that phase where there’s always an inclination to strike up an interaction with a female Twitter handle. I never ever harbored thoughts that would hinge towards indecency but yeah, I was desperate to talk and be talked to. I wasn’t a creepy guy. I was a guy whose friends had forgotten him, who wasn’t hunky enough to have made the gals go weak in their knees and I wasn’t rich enough to attract gold diggers. I wasn’t cute enough to be made friends with females and I wasn’t humorous and smart and whatever whatever to have got a gf. But I had the biological drive to talk and talk and laugh and make gals laugh and just interact.
I continue to have those bruises even now. But I have moved on because I had started feeling more and more embarrassed with every passing day. So I am maybe 10% of that ‘pest’ I was a year ago.
The point is- There are indeed good guys who might want to interact. Not every one is a Kasab. Not everyone wants to be a haddi in the kabab.
