My daughter is like my son.
She leads her team like a man.
She is strong, confident and bold. Just like a man.
I am sure like me, you have heard these sentences. At home or at work when people compare a woman to a man, they don’t really mean to say anything else other than the female is very good. However, they end up comparing her with the benchmark they have set. A bar that they think, only a man can achieve.
Men or women don’t want to be treated like the other. They wanted to be treated are they are. As equals. Equal responsibilities, equal pay, and equal respect are what both men and women want. No privileges and no special treatments based on the gender.
Let a man be a man and let a woman be who she is. They have their own personality traits and their own strengths. They will do things differently and succeed in what they do. Let’s stop differentiating and let’s start thinking of equality. If we want a world that’s free of any prejudices and biases, it starts from us. Our thoughts and actions will lead us to what we want to see.
By not treating men and women alike but by treating them like equals.
Men are from Earth, women are from Earth. Deal with it.
― George Carlin

Totally agree, Parul. Women don’t need to be compared to men to state how far they’ve come or where they belong. They are human beings just like men and when talking about them we need to be more empathetic of this fact.
Loved the quote ❤

I agree. That “like a” tag gets annoying at times. Even when men are compared to men. Each are their own special. 🙂 Let them find their own benchmarks and goals, instead of setting on arbitrarily. Who knows, they might be setting one that they feel worthy of them. 😀

Very well said. I really don’t like it when a woman is compared to a man, as if she wouldn’t have qualities of her own. We all have something beautiful to offer to others. This is what shoudl count.

Hey Parul, Another theme this year that I can relate to. I like the way you’ve completely done away with the debate by normalizing the issue. Men and Women are the same and that quote in the end nails it.
Happy Blogging 🙂

So agree! Comparisons can be lethal. Individuals do it to themselves, even if subconsciously, often enough. Don’t need the added opinions of others.
Good luck with the challenge!

Awesome thoughts to begin my day with. Yes pls let a woman be a woman. And we women also need to be ourselves n not get into the competitive mode on our own too, to prove a pointless point. 🙄
Great post to start the challenge Parul- I will stay tuned for more.

That’s a great point. We aren’t competing with each other. We are our own bench marks. If only people could get that. Thank you!

So true Parul. Sometimes it gets on my nerve when people compare a successful woman to a man. Why, oh why? Women are equally, if not more, capable! Great start to the challenge Parul.

Parul you have knack of saying a lot in very few words. This comparison is not only the truth but also mental conditioning.

Trust you to say it the best. If we can normalise the situation instead of outraging, as is the norm these days, I think we’d be all better off.

Very well said Parul. Men and women don’t like comparison. Each is endowed with unique traits which we should learn to respect.

Let a man be a man and a woman who she is. … So true parul… And this is called acceptance which we humans seldom do. We constantly judge on the basic of benchmarks we or society sets. Wondering when we would get beyond this

I agree with you! Why set a benchmark? Men and women need to be accepted the way they are. Loved how you have conveyed the message in so few words.

When God has made us different with different capabilities and personality traits, then why we loose our own essence just to be like Men.

There are no benchmarks, except our own capabilities. Comparing women with men is wrong in so many ways.
I liked the bluntness of the quote you mentioned, Parul. It’s so apt!

YES! This…so very important! I think there is quote about something to do with women where it’s about being like a man and I hate that quote so much because no, we are not like men. We are women and we deserve to be treated equally for what we do. We are not bold like men. We are bold. We are not confident like men. We are confident. Love this post Parul! As always, you speak to me and fire up all the things I’m passionate about! 😀

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. This is such a common line of thought. Why try to compare and equate two people? They’re so very different and so special in their own ways.

Reading the first three sentences, I felt my hackles rise. By the end, I was nodding along – amen to all that! Feminism isn’t about turning women INTO men; it’s about equal rights and opportunities to pursue our dreams, whether they are the same or different, in our own ways. It’s about access to the playing field and achieving our objectives – not necessarily in exactly the same ways. We women bring unique strengths to the table, as do men. Why are there “boy” or “girl” colors, toys, professions, sports? These things have nothing to do with gender. Have you ever seen this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs Pretty powerful.
