Last year, this time we were on a road trip to Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. I have been guilty of not sharing enough travel stories with you all but I will get there.
To begin with, here is what I learnt about Cherrupunjee at school and then what I experienced when we traveled last year.

Linking with Esha and Natasha for #WordlessWednesday today and this is #82 for me.
Cherrapunjee was the wettest place in India is what we learnt in school. This has changed over the years and it no longeer holds the same position. I would love to see more photos of this place.

I took a holiday here at shillong with my daughter and friends family – loved this place it was all the time raining, we visited the Ramakrishna math, it was a beautiful place and enjoyed eating tamarind chocolates to help us deal with nausea.

Lovely! I did not know about the math though. Thanks for sharing your memories, Angela!

Yes, how can we ever forget Cherrapunjee. I think we remembered the fact better because of the very out-of-the-box name that this place has.
So how rainy was the wettest place on Earth?
I love the rains but not the long drawn, non-stop ones. I still remember as a child I used to dread the thought of ever living in such a place.
Such a unique link up for #WW. Thanks Parul.

Yes, this used to be a quiz question too. It is beautiful Natasha. One of the loveliest places I have been too. Meghalaya is a gem.

I learnt about it too as the rainiest place on earth. As a child I loved the idea of it raining all the time. Not any longer though when I think of clothes not drying and all the mess. Growing up takes the fun out of everything.

Reminds me of the Geography lesson in which Cherapunjee was mentioned , back in school. And, I would wonder how do people manage their daily routines in the world’s rainiest place!

That’s the only time I had heard to Cherrapunji too. I would guess that becomes life for them.

Yep, the only time I heard of Cherapunjee was in school and that it was the place that received the most rainfall. I liked the tidbit you shared on insta that you couldn’t find umbrellas! 😀

How interesting – I’d always heard that the wettest place on earth was Waialeale in Kauai. It’s only #8, according to this list: https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/the-ten-wettest-places-in-the-world.html and Cherrapunjee is only #2! (Still, #2 is pretty impressive and soggy!)

So cool you pulled up this list. We wanted to go to Mawsynram. It was right there in Meghalaya but decided against due to time. Thank you for stopping by.
