#ThursdayTreeLove – 158

Thursday Tree Love – 158

When we were growing up, our parents told my brother and me to do all the things on day 1 of the year that should become a practice for the entire year. So we studied, played, did not fight with each other, had cakes and chocolates and stayed good kids on January 1. Just to make sure that all good things come through the entire year.

Even today when I am not a kid anymore, I make it a point to do all the things I love on January 1. So I workout, stay cool and calm, read, crochet, eat some rum cake, meet my friends and spend some good time with VT.

So on day 1 of 2024, I went for a long walk around a nearby lake with my workout buddies. We walked a full circuit around Jakkur Lake in Bangalore and I clicked some trees.

I don’t know the name of this tree but I will find out when I go to the lake again.

What did you do on day 1 of 2024?

Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on January 25, 2024. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog, tell me where did you spot the tree and link it back to this post.

If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

Before you go, don’t forget to check the lovely trees shared on #ThursdayTreeLove -157

      1. Paul, I usually just get my info on prompts via Notifications on WP just because I get so much mail per day. If I sign up will I just get one email when you post your prompt or will I get one every time someone comments?

      2. One email when I blog so like a email every time I publish. When you comment, don’t check the box that says receive replies and then you won’t get emails. Does that help? And don’t feel any pressure. I would love for you to enjoy Tree Love 😊

  1. I wonder if those are two trees growing side by side or one tree that has two trunks. A nice New Year’s Day photo. I like that tradition you have continued from your childhood. I watched a couple of parades on TV (London and the Tournament of Roses parade in California), ate some leftovers, blogged, and mainly took it easy because we were going to have a busy week ahead. 3. My mother used to believe that whatever we do on day 1 of the year, we keep doing it for the rest of the year. Kind of a cycle you’re trapped into sort of thing. Now logically I do not believe in this, but subconsciously, since I’ve been told from childhood, it keeps circling somewhere inside my mind, you know what I mean? So, I always work on Day 1. Not that I’m a workaholic, but because I like to keep myself busy and employed. I spend time with Sarah, order meals at home, and chill. It is a healthy balance of work and party at home. I avoid going out because I stay away from nashey-mein-choor crowds.

  4. Loved the quote, to begin with, it’s similar to – another year is like a blank notebook for infinite possibilities to write on.
And such a calming and serene picture to begin the year with.
Guess what, even I used to choose the best things to be done on the first day of the year as my mom used to say (although the entire focus was on studies). And guess what my kids are following it now too. We have some psychological and sentimental connection with the calendar year changing even though nothing changes much except for the calendar on the wall but is fun and I love it.

  5. That’s a well spent Jan 1st Parul. Here’s wishing you a 2024 that’s a very pleasant one.

I went on a hike and dragged the family along. 😀

That’s a nice picture of Jakkur lake. The lake looks very clean and your reflections, lovely. The tree looks like a cute addition to that landscape. 🙂

For this edition of TTL I’ve got some Coast Redwoods from Redwood National Park in Northern California. https://dnambiar.com/2024/01/lady-bird-johnson-grove.html
