A lot of people who know me also know the fact that I try new things as long as it’s not learning to drive. Tom Rath who I haven’t met yet, also tells me that I am a learner. I have tried my hand at a lot of things like baking, cooking, sewing, fabric painting, embroidery, quilling, teaching, gardening, news reading in school and of course writing. I think I am who they call, “Jack of all trades, master of none”.
I have loved to write since I was a teenager but all that was written in personal diaries hidden behind text books and never saw a day light. Even my parents would be surprised to know that I have burned diaries that had my thoughts when I was leaving for engineering college. Mum-Papa – shocked? Someone said it right, “Little children, little problems; bigger children, bigger problems”.
It was somewhere in January of 2013 when the idea of having my own online space for writing hit me and happinessandfood was born. The initial posts were shared with my most loyal readers – my Mum and Papa and glad that my parents have been my biggest supporters. I think with one post in two months to now 12-13 in a month, I have been going steady and happy. I am a strong believer of following one’s passion. We have got just one life and there is no point wasting it for others. Writing like any other skill can be honed and I am not an awesome writer or something but what encourages me most is when I am at work, colleagues, people I don’t really know personally pull me in hallways to say that they love to read what I write. Some who keep up to date with the blog and appreciate include NK, PS, PK, SB, SN, AN, RM, VM, UG and many many more. I should also call out a few who regret having missed out but still catch up and then appreciate like MS and UA and they are the ones who keep telling me if a post was good, funny, ask me details about the idea and stuff. They even contribute by sharing pics for Wordless Wednesdays! I should call out LP and SJ for sharing personal stories and pictures about festivals with me. Being from North and not so well versed with the culture here, I would have never been able to write a post on Onam and Golu without their support. Friends like GK, PS, SS – share over calls and whatsapp and tell me what they found good about the posts.
Of course, I need to mention VT for being asked to read every time I publish a post (though he has updates in his mailbox all the time) and he replies with a “hmm”, “theek thi” kind of remarks. Though, knowing that he supports me to the extent that sometimes the house chores take a back seat and he ends up doing a lot more than his own comfort zone makes me feel blessed to have him in my life.
Sometime during Diwali this year, when I reached out to you guys to like my Facebook page so that I could hit a 100 before I publish this post, I got more than 25 likes in a day that shows how much you all want to read. There have been shares, comments on the FB posts or the blog that tells me sometimes you relate to what I write and sometimes you share a different perspective and that’s good. We all think differently and I appreciate any thoughts on any medium. I have also made blogger friends – some from Game of Blogs on BlogAdda and those who vote on Indiblogger and leave a comment like GB, AS, ST, VB, AG, GS, BB,RN and so many more. Some who follow on twitter and keep in touch.
I never wanted this post to be a “thank you” speech but it is what it is! Without you all readers, it would have been just impossible to pen down and think through 99 posts and also get a small interview published in Smart Indian Women.
I hope to keep writing on topics that are relevant to present times, bring a smile on your face, and touch lives. They say that bloggers remain immortal and I wish to be remembered long after I am gone through this blog. Keep reading, keep sharing what you think and keep smiling – it’s that one curve that sets things straight 🙂

I am participating in National Blog Posting Month – NaBloPoMo, and this is Post #2, a pledge to write daily during November to hone my skills, challenge myself, and taking this blog to the next level. Wish me luck and share ideas that you would want to read 🙂
That was touchy… you made me wet (eyes of course)…. BTW, did you miss the last ‘s’ while mentioning me in your post?

That’s awesome Parul. Heartiest congratulations. You are awesome, you know! Like, amidst everything else, blogging always takes a backseat for me. I keep procrastinating all the time. And, then, when I get updates from your blog about your latest post, I wonder how does she do it! Well, I hope, someday, I can blog as much as you do. Keep up this great work… You are inspiring people like me to push the limits too… Way to go!

I can relate to your this post today. Blogging is not an easy journey and moments like these give us a pleasure, which is difficult to describe in words. And, yes, it is difficult to stop once you started blogging.
