“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” — Nelson Mandela
Last Sunday, I went on a Nandi Hills trek. A short but strenuous climb, and I think I did good to my heart and lungs. My watch showed that we climbed 120 floors in about 75 mins. I have done this trek about three times, and there is spot where it almost ends. At that exact spot, there are a few huge Eucalyptus trees. This picture is my third with the tree. You can see the ones from 2018 and 2024 too if you would like.
A bit of Gemini search shared that historically Nandi Hills is the first place where Eucalyptus trees were introduced to India. In 1790, Tipu Sultan received the seeds of the tree from Australia and planted at his summer palace fort at these hills. These trees get high altitudes, misty weather and rich soil along with an undisturbed environment which makes then grow to their full potential. Like you can see, I can’t hug this tree. It was that big and tall.
Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on September 10, 2026. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog, tell me where did you spot the tree and link it back to this post.
If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition.
