Tabo is a small town in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. We were in the town for a night stay and were going to Kaza the next day. Like you know, our last road trip was in August and that’s how Tabo happened.
The handful population, one school, one monastery, one medical center, a few home stays and a small shop is all I can think of when I think of Tabo. The house we stayed in had an apple tree.
The main junction of the town was a small quiet place and for some reason, I felt differently. It could have been my AMS but I couldn’t help admire the quiet and calm of the town. As much as I love the fast-paced life I live in Bangalore, I am a small town girl at heart. Being at home and hearing the birds chirp is my happy thing to do.
So I sat at that junction and looked around.I was surrounded by mountains. The brown ones with hardly any vegetation. I couldn’t see the Sun so I had no clue of the direction. Behind me was the only medical center of the town. It seemed like the travelers were either in the monastery or resting up. So other than VT and me, there was no one around. The shop keeper has also stepped out.
At that moment something happened. I asked VT to click for me so I could treasure this memory. To me this picture is about going back to that evening when I felt that the world was within my reach. No chaos, no worries just some chirping of birds and the beating of my heart.

It was such a great decision, you took that day, Parul! These are the moments that live on, immortalised in our travel pictures, capturing not just a point in time but so much more. I have so many such memories treasured in precious photo albums now, so I can totally understand how important this must have been for you. Nothing like sifting through travel memories, na, especially as we are all in lockdown mode, cooped up, waiting for another trip in an unforeseeable future?
