Conversations over chai #5

An old chai picture from our Ladakh trip

Hello readers!

How are you? I hope all is well as you read this new post and if things aren’t, I wish they get better soon.

These days I am thinking a lot abut time and how fast paced life has become. If we met over a cup of chai, this is a topic I will bring up. I don’t know if it’s my age or just general reflections. Well, there would be many more topics to talk but this is top of my mind.

If we were having chai together, I would tell you that I love the white fluffy clouds I see these days. During the day, they represent hope and all things bright and by evening, when they get dark and it starts to rain, I am always thinking that water table should rise up. A parched Earth is no good for anyone.

If we were having chai together, I would tell you that during a session we were asked what we gave to the organization we are working for and what it gave us. This question got me thinking. I gave 14 and counting years of my life to the company I work for. I could be thought of as selfish, but I did give the best had to give. In return, I got more than I had asked for. It made me the working woman I am today. Financial independence and career as well. If you work, has this question ever crossed your mind?

If we were having chai together, I would tell you that my work desk at home is next to a big window. On some days during evenings, when I get to my work calls I see the moon. Though the moon never distracts, I do smile a lot when I have spotted the moon. If you didn’t know, I am a moon-lover.

If we were having chai together, I would tell you that I have new mother on my team. I have a lot of respect for mothers who also work full-time. Child-care, family responsibilities and full time work is hard. So I was talking to AS and I asked her to take care of herself as well. In reply, she said that no one can fill from an empty cup and that thought has stuck with me. Most women (and also men) take care of others and think of everyone else before they think of themselves. However, self care should be everyone’s top priority and I am glad AS thinks that. I do too.

If we were having chai together, I would tell you that my 100 days of running (read walking) challenge is going well so far. In the last 40 odd days, I have clocked 130 kms and I am feeling good about consistency and showing up everyday. I am also reading a lot about women’s health and researching on how to better take care of myself and the women around me.

If we were having chai together, what would you tell me?

Conversations over chai is my take on sharing a bit of life, reflections, learnings and gratitude with you. By now, you all know that chai is my favorite beverage and I hope we get to have chai together one day.

So join me by sharing something that you can and let’s talk.

  2. Having a cup of tea with you will be pure joy, as you inspire me as you share about all that is happening in your life. I would tell you that right now i am at home resting, allowing my body to heal as I have been too busy in the past week, so have taken a break today. I will tell you how blessed I am to have people around me to not just care for, but also to support and help me as I continue my journey with gratitude. I will tell you about my clients who make my life so meaningful and interesting; their stories that inspires me, their resilience and courage to keep going on in life, and the hope that everything will be fine. And many more things that life offers, the weather that has turned pleasant, the calls from friends and the greenery around and the movie that Laapata ladies that I loved watching and so much more…. thanks for listening:)

  3. How I love your posts, Parul! There’s always something reflective, yet cozy, about them. I’d love to meet you for chai and a chat sometime this year. 🙂
