Happy 2026, you all. As I write this, today is the first Friday of this freshly minted year. It’s fun how this year began with a weekend.
I have taken a day off and I am in a reflective mood. I have a brand new planner that I want to write my thoughts on, I am also thinking of how fast 2025 went by and then I also like the calm that the day has brought.
If you are new to this blog, International Blog Delurking week is an annual feature here. The first full week of January, I ask readers to say hello and delurk. So if you are a regular here or just stumbled upon, please tell me the city and country you are reading this post from.
Let me begin and share a few additional things about me:
- I live in Bangalore, India and I call this city home.
- I completed 20 years of living in Bangalore in 2025 and this is the longest I have lived in a city. I left my hometown, Azamgarh when I was 17.
- My husband, VT and I just got back from a road trip to Gujarat. This was our 6th road trip after 6 years.
- I love rainbows.
- I have over 100 plants at my home.
- I learnt to crochet in 2020 and I am so glad I picked it up. Creating handmade items from a skein of yarn is pure joy. Right now, I am knitting a top for myself.
- This blog will turn a teenager (13 YO) this January. I don’t blog very regularly now but I intend to keep this space for travel tales and personal stories. Yes, Thursday Tree Love will continue too.
- I am pursuing ICF certified Professional Coaching Certification and I am learning so many new things about myself in the process.
There are more things but I will stop here.
I would love for you to say hello and identify yourself.
Would you?
If you are a blogger and would like to join any time during this week of Jan 5-11, feel free to use the image above and link to this post. If you don’t see a pingback, please leave a comment with your post’s link. And guess what? I won’t lurk.

Houston, Texas, USA in the house! Happy New Year!
Thanks for the “delurking” reminder.
And not to be THAT sort of friend, but are you knitting a top or crocheting a top for yourself? Two completely different skills and not all of us can do both! I crochet, but haven’t the patience for knitting.
I’m not sharing my resolutions on the blog, this year – instead, I’ll share progress made and goals achieved. I do have resolutions and goals, though. One of which is to write at least once weekly on the blog…so, off to do that while I’m thinking about it!

Right now knitting a top. I have crocheted tops too. I’m still learning to knit. I think I’m better at crocheting 😉
So glad you stopped by and delurked.

I admire those who can knit. I’d need to put a rescue line on every row. And if I knit too long a row, the yarn between my needles is about a yard long! (Or so tight I can’t make a stitch at all.)
OK, so I did the thing: (Inter)national Delurking Week! | Holly Jahangiri
I’m such a nerd. I had to go on a quest to find the real origins of this – and it turns out that it is the 20th Anniversary of the original “(Inter)national Delurking Week.” See my post for details. It may be older, but the original post / blog no longer exists, and I THINK 2006 was the first year!

Oh wow! Thank you for finding the details.
On knitting, I’m learning. But I’d love one day to like knitting as much as I enjoy crocheting.

Happy Teens to your beautiful Blog, Parul. And totally agree with Shilpa that you sure have a green thumb. The count of 100 reminds me of my mom’s house who has these 100 plus green kids she nurtures on her terrace. And your 20 years in Bangalore makes me realize I have lived in 20 different places/ cities in last 20 years exploring India in the best possible way.
Its my first time and thank you for this annual Blog Delurking. Three cheers to Thursday Tree Love that makes me feel more connected to every tree I see and Love.

Hi Parul, visiting your blog after long. I miss taking part in Thursday Tree Love, as I don’t travel that much these days. You know me, yet let me reintroduce myself.
I live in Mumbai since 2008. Similar to you, Mumbai is the city where I have spent most time in my life. I started crocheting in 2025 and that was the only thing that came me calm through the chaotic year. And, I am loving crocheting. My wordpress blog is 9 years old, however, I used to have another blog on Blogger that would have turned 15 years.
Have a great 2026.

I live in Bengaluru. I have been here since 1999. Like you, this is the longest I have lived in any city.
I have been around India a bit. Studied in Thiruvananthapuram, worked in Bhopal, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Hyderabad, and in Bengaluru from where in retired (I am a journalist) in April last year.
With lot of time for myself, I try to be organised and prioritise my activities for each day. Because, you know, work to tends to expand to fill the time!
I haven’t made any new year resolution as such; but I have lined up a few activities for the coming months.
I have been blogging since 2004; please do go through the Archives on the right panel on my blog (Time and Tide) to read my posts.
