My favorite 7 movies

I have never been bitten by a movie bug. When people ask me if I have watched the latest movie, my answer is usually negative. Growing up, my brother and I used to watch movies with Mum. Her friends and their children used to accompany and it was usually a big gang up to watch the latest movie in town. However, Papa hardly watched one in theater. His point was that he did not want to be spotted by his students watching a senseless Bollywood masala movie.

So, it was never a craze back home to watch the new released one. Neither then, nor now. I am more bring-the-movie-to-me kind of person. VT and I usually watch it on TV or get DVDs from friends to watch the ones that made news. It’s not what you are concluding right now. I do watch movies and I love if they have a story and message that I can take back to my life.

So, here are my favorite 7 movies that you should watch:
  1. The Pursuit of Happyness
  2. The Karate Kid
  3. Hacksaw Ridge
  4. Captain Phillips
  5. The Hundred Food Journey
  6. Nil Batte Sannata (Hindi)
  7. The Intern

There are more that I love but the above are the ones I can watch again and again. How about you? Which one is your favorite? Share the name of one in the comments below and if I haven’t watched it, I will.

  1. The pursuit of happyness is my favourite too and figures top of my list. I have a downloaded print in my laptop and I have watched it numerous times over the last 10 years. Still can watch it anyday. The 2nd movie on my list will be English Vinglish and my list will end at these 2.

  2. That’s a good list, Parul.
I love watching movies that make sense, have some story, and characters that we can relate to, and even, maybe, learn something from.
I have a few favourites: Chef, The holiday, The devil wears Prada, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, and quite a many more. Do watch these if you haven’t already. I am sure you will enjoy these, too! πŸ™‚

  3. Love that list, Parul. 1,3,4 and 7 are the ones that I’ve seen from that list! There are so many great movies I agree. I could watch Big Fish, The Green Mile, The English Patient, Chocolat over and over again. In case you’re interested, they are well worth a try, sometime.

A few telugu/tamil movies of Kamal Haasan I don’t know whether you watch hindi /telugu/tamil. I like good scripts and some entertainment.

  6. I am like you, Parul. I don’t rush out to watch the latest movies. In fact, I don’t really watch movies or TVs at all. The ones I enjoyed during my childhood were the Adam Sandler movies, like Happy Gilmore. Mr Bean was also a movie I liked. Also, I enjoy many of the classic Disney Movies like The Lion King and Aladdin. It sounds relaxing, just you and VT together at home relaxing in front of the TV watching a movie πŸ˜€

  8. I have watched only the first two from your list they are pretty awesome movies. My favorite genre is science fiction, I can’t handle intense real life based stories 😊 I love your dad’s excuse… Hehehe it’s so cute.
